What Guests Are Saying

Flanners Beach Campground offers a peaceful and secluded environment with spacious, clean campsites and well-maintained trails, making it ideal for nature lovers. Many guests praised the friendly and helpful campground hosts, as well as the reasonable pricing. However, some facilities, particularly the bathrooms and showers, are in need of repair and cleaning, and access to the beach is currently limited due to ongoing maintenance issues.

- No lock on one of the shower doors, so only two were usable if you don’t have someone to stand guard.
- No wood available for fire pits but they don’t want you to bring wood - none available at any stores in the area either.
- No announcement on the website that the beach is closed - appears to have been closed for a long time. So no swimming or kayaking! You can’t get close to the water.
- Dumpster overfilled and stinking. Had to just throw trash on top of the dumpster because there was no more room.
- Fire pits not being cleaned out. Several inches thick with ashes.

I really like this quiet campground that is located so conveniently to New Bern, Cherry Point, Morehead City, and Beaufort. Sites are private and shaded. Restrooms and showers are clean and private. Trails are nice, but it was too wet from rain to use them on this trip. I really wish the Forest Service would reestablish access to the river though. It's a shame to have a riverside campground where there isn't even a view of the river.

Nice wooded sites with plenty of privacy. FYI , Site 8, we booked on recreation.gov states it’s 30a but only had a 50a outlet. That needs to be changed in the description. The host was very nice and helped us find another site.

Very nice site to visit. Beach cleanup and then access would make this site exceptional.

Just a heads up Beware of the host she can be very aggressive. I was returning from a walk with my dog when I heard a women yelling something at my husband as he was hooking up our camper to leave. And as I approached our campsite I saw her toss three bags of dog poop into the driveway of our campsite when asked what this was she yelled and screamed at me for 10 minutes telling me that it was my dog poop I was to pick it up and put it where it belonged. I had my dog poop in a bag in my hand. When I heard her yelling at my husband I had turned on my phone and recorded the whole conversation. Then her husband stepped in and said that we were banned from the campground would never be able to come back again I have no idea what the reason was. But after reading prior reviews I guess this host has an issue with her temper and and they get a charge out of throwing people out of the Campground. We are very quiet people and keep to yourselves, we were there for 11 days and never saw the host at all until the day we were packing up to leave we were in the site #2 next to the host site.. Evidently Croatan forest does not care about their campers or they would do something about this host! Will not return here. And one Campground host can ruin your whole vacation. As for the cleanliness of the bathrooms I could not say for we did not use them we used our campers facilities.

Very nice Campground shaded bathrooms I cannot speak for because we used our own facilities in our camper . Was nice up and to the point that I came back from a walk with my dog and the host was yelling at my husband as she threw three bags of dog poop into our driveway and told us we needed to pick them up and take care of them because they where ours when I told her they were not ours I had mine in my hand she continued to holler at me for 10 minutes and her husband came over and told us we had to pack our stuff and get out we were not welcomed back. After reading previous post I guess the host has anger issues and the husband just likes to throw everybody out of the campground.

Very nice private camping area if your looking to enjoy nature at its best in a national forest. The property is beautifully lined with lots of trees and gives every camp site privacy. The restroom and showers were always clean. My family and I will definitely be coming back to North Carolina for a visit.
