We arrived in a downpour w/lightning. Did not know where to because the gates were closed. If we had been familiar it wouldn’t have been too bad. Or not raining. There were small signs on the gate with instructions. The campground was very nice. Restrooms clean as were showers. We enjoyed our stay here very much. We did wish the beach area was available so we could of gone swimming. I would give this campground 5 stars

Great experience at Flanners Beach! The hosts were really helpful and nice. The campground was very well maintained, clean and accessible. All the sites looked very level. There was a burn ban while we were there but because of the depth of the fire rings, we could still have a fire. But also because of the depth of the rings you can’t enjoy seeing it. Not having a campfire would have been worse for me personally. There are really nice paved and unpaved bike/walking paths. Most of the sites have plenty of shade unless you’re up along the river. The river is within site but you can’t get to it because of damage from Hurricane Flo.
We went into New Bern to the Tryon Palace and Gardens and really enjoyed it. The tour of the palace is interesting and not so long that it gets tedious. The story is quite interesting and well worth the $20 fee. The gardens are beautiful!!
We also drove over to Emerald Isle, about 40 minutes away, and enjoyed a nice day on the beach.
We’ll definitely go back!

So I’m start out by saying that I read some not so flattering reviews about this campground and they where wrong. The problem with some campers are they hate to be held accountable. There are rules to camping try asking why versus blaming the host for rules that come with the job. The campground was well maintained and the bath house was clean. As usual you have the few who feel like filling the bathroom trash can instead of walking to the dumpster. The beach is closed for safety after the hurricane so if you want the beach try driving there. I enjoyed the sites leveled on gravel. The trails were challenging for hikers and mountain bikers. There were plenty of kids for my kids to play with so go slow and watch out for the kids. This campground was conveniently close to Walmart and 25 to 30 minutes from Atlantic Beach.

Beach was closed; spots, while nice & level, were a little tight. hosts were very helpful.

Great campground with large private sites surrounded by foliage. Easy access. Nice trails through old growth forest. My only regret is that there's little view of the river and no trail down the riverside. We'll be back.

A great relaxing campground. The trails, campsites and bath houses were wonderful. I only wish there was access to the beach!
