Great location. On site access to lots of great hiking trails. The swimming hole is perfect. Tubing down the river from the swimming hole to the south of the site takes about 45 minutes which was great. 5 minutes from a Walmart but only trees and forest till then because it is on the boarder of the national park.

White Oak is the only loop with any kind of privacy at the sites. Area obviously gets a ton of use. Property and infrastructure are not well maintained and showing a lot of wear. Bathrooms not cleaned often enough for volume of use. Given the number of folks with Staff t-shirts hanging around, the issue isn't insufficient human resources.

The location of the campground is amazing. But having camped here for many years, the condition & cleanliness of the bathrooms has significantly deteriorated over the past 4-5 years. Additionally, the camp sites are more overgrown with poison ivy & weeds so your usable space is reduced.
Lastly, the is zero WiFi anywhere (the overflow parking lot WiFi NEVER works). They blame it on Comporium (the internet provider), but other local businesses have excellent service from them. It’s 2023… to have not invested in a decent WiFi network for the campground at this point is piss poor & out of touch with camping needs. You can’t even pull a weather report to know when serious weather is approaching.
The Davidson River & Pisgah National Forest are absolutely beautiful. We can only hope those running the campground will bring it up to a better level these amazing natural resources deserve.

Beautiful location! Loved the proximity to the river and to the Visitor Center across the road. There is so much to discover at Pisgah Nat'l Forest!
We were missing am electrical outlet at the restrooms, couldn't find any.

From Asheville, North Carolina, take I-40 West to I-26 East to Exit 40 (Airport Road/Asheville Regional Airport), onto State Highway 280. Continue south 15.5 miles on 280 to Pisgah National Forest. A number of first-come, first-serve sites are offered during the winter only. Availability is extremely limited during peak season, weekends, and holidays. It is recommended that visitors reserve other sites ahead of time. |

Single campsites are limited to 2 vehicles per site and double campsites limited to 4 vehicles per site. Additional vehicles wishing to park at the site are subject to a $5.00 per vehicle fee. |

All campsites must be occupied the first night of a reservation. Any unoccupied site on the first night will be released for other users and reservations will be cancelled without opportunity for refund. |

Pets are allowed on-site and must be supervised for the duration of your stay. Dogs must be kept on-leash or contained for the duration of your stay. Dog fences are not allowed in the campground. |

Davidson River is located in black bear territory. Visitors are expected to keep all smellable items locked away inside a camper, vehicle, or provided bear box. Visitors who do not comply with this rule may be asked to vacate the facility due to an increased risk of public safety. |

Generators may be used up to 4 hours per day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.; generators not allowed on Poplar Loop (sites 99-113) |
