Cataloochee Campground is a charming and peaceful spot, well-regarded for its clean facilities and friendly hosts. Many visitors appreciate the abundant wildlife, including elk and bears, and the serene, forested environment. We love our camping trips to Cataloouchee! The camp ground is always full of wonderful folks easily making friends with. The Elk was bugling and the weather was perfect. There did seem to not be as many elk as in past years. On a positive note we got to see the new baby elk with its Mom! That was the first little one we have ever seen at Cataloouchee! See ya again soon!!!!!

We loved it here!!! A beautiful campground with fantastic sites. Showers are the only missing amenity, but we truly didn't care. Waking up in the Catalochee is totally worth being a little stinky!

Beautiful, large campsites. Secluded in a deep forest with pretty stream at the back of some of the sites. Clean and well maintained.

100% will be back. Some things I had a hard time finding online and would have been helpful to know before our trip:
-There is a utility sink (cold water only) for washing dishes and dumping grey water by the bathrooms.
-The fire pits have grill/grates on them.
-The bathrooms have flush toilets and cold water sinks with hand dryers (no paper towels).
-We only saw one bear bin food storage box, by campsite #1.
-Sites were rocky and muddy. It's a very shaded area so if it's damp, don't expect it to dry out!

Campground is always great. The road in needed help, badly wash-boarded and rough.
