Stayed in Loop 3. Beware of Loop 3 Restrooms and Showers! We stayed 4 nights and shower (1) was never cleaned. Sandy floors, items left by others still there on 4th night. Bathroom was old and obviously never maintained either the soap dispenser was broken and empty.
GO TO LOOP 2 RESTROOMS- MUCH NICER!
BUT BUSY because Loop 3 was there!
Campground had well kept grounds.

First thing you have to do is put a lift on the paved road into park. Too rough.
What made this bad was the mosquitos, could barley go outside during daylight hours but was impossible in the evening. We went to the Sakakawea State Park one night to visit some friends and not one bug. Came back to Downstream about 10 PM and there were only 2 campfires going. My guess it was because of the mosquitos. I have camped at Downstream for years but it this continues I will cancel the rest of my reservations for the summer and will camp other places next summer. .

Mosquitoes were horrendous. Waste of money for a 4 day weekend. Very unhappy. Usually this campground is awesome. Not this time. The women’s shower in loop 3 was almost clogged and several soap dispensers were not working.

The host couple was very intrusive. We had parted a vehicle wrong on Friday evening. They stood over us until we moved it. Then they watched our group all weekend looking for anything we might have been doing wrong. They went as far as to investigate if or group was eligible for both of the senior pass that were used. (We were.) They were very intense and it was not comfortable for us. We have been camping at the downstream for more that 10 years and have not had an experience like this. It was like they were trying to get us removed or black listed for parking incorrectly.

Our location was very nice, a great amenity to have power hookup. Complaints to host couple who continued to stalk and reprimand us as we settled in to a new campground. Within the first 10 minutes of getting there, the two in the side by side had gotten after us twice as my husband was trying to get us settled in alone as I am 36 weeks pregnant.

Some people need to be reminded to leach their dogs AND clean up after them. By playground between loop 2 and 1 was bad, no one was picking it up.
