About Eggerts Landing

The Eggerts Landing Campground is located on Lake Ashtabula in eastern North Dakota. With thick forests, secluded sites and lake access, it is the most popular campground in the area. Lake Ashtabula was created by the construction of the Baldhill Dam on the Sheyenne River in 1944, and is situated in one of the most scenic river valleys in the region, offering visitors a wide range of recreation opportunities year-round. Summer activities include fishing, boating, swimming and picnicking, while Ice fishing and cross-country skiing are popular during winter months.

Until this weekend I had never had to seek out Campground hosts for anything, and when we did they were very accessible for assistance or answering questions. Our site which was right on the water had a nice little access clearing for kayaking, we brought a few insect repellants to keep mosquitos at bay, but they weren't bad. Quite a large, walk-in site with parking nearby, and this campground's setup seems to prevent other campers from shortcutting through your site. Clean campsites (leave it better than you found it) and clean restrooms. A lot of sites are quite dark, later in the evening which we personally don't mind and just keep light sources handy. A pretty peaceful campground typically, even when most of the sites are filled.

The campground was very nice and spacious. The only issue we had was our surge protector would keep tripping. The power was very poor quality at site 11. Other than that it was a very nice and well kept campground.

My site was close to the showers/bathrooms which I loved and had a light to help find my way in the dark. I don't like campsites that are completely dark.
Each site had privacy with trees and bushes around it which was very nice. The trees also protected camper from suns heat during the day and the wind when it got real windy.
The beach was close to my site too. It was nice with a lot of sand for kids to play in. The playground was right beside the beach with nice playground equipment. There were benches to sit on but could have used a couple more.
I liked the nature hikes in the trees and finding a bench to sit on and go fishing!! There were little racoons running around that were cute. Deer were grazing in the grass behind the showers at night. It was an awesome experience.
I met people that come here every year and they were so nice to visit with. Their family comes from different states and meet here every year. Like a family reunion.
I grew up by Ashtabula crossing, but I would strongly recommend this place to people. It has really been made into a nice place to camp and spend time with family, friends and loved ones. You can swim, fish, relax, grill out, roast marshmallows, hike, go boating, or whatever you want, all in one spot!!! I loved it!! Cant wait to go back again.
