Excellent campground right on the lake. Most of the spots are quite shady. There is a fire ring and picnic table at each spot. The 30-amp plug-in at ours was upside down, so we couldn't use our surge protector, but other than that, it was perfect. The campground is well maintained. It has a playground, a large grassy area that the park ranger played a kids movie at on a movie screen, a swimming beach with a rinse station, trash bins and water spigots in quite a few spots, and a restroom and shower building. There is also a fish cleaning station and dump station right at the entry. There are a few walking paths, one of them nice and shady. No hiking, but no surprise there as this park is in North Dakota. There is a marina with a coffee shop within walking distance - it is not part of the park, but it is visible from the park and a very short walk. They rent pontoons and kayacks, and sell ice, firewood, sodas, and also have a little cafe with food and wifi. However, buy it at the firewood stand in Valley City right as you turn onto 5th Avenue to head up to the campground. You'll need cash, but it is only $5 for 15 pieces. It is a busy campground, but everyone was really nice and respectful of eachother's space and the quiet hours. The roads are paved, so there is minimal dust! This was VERY nice! There is NO cell service. If you really need to make a call, there is a small area by the showers where you can get a bar or 2. There is also no wifi acess, even though some information out there about this campground states otherwise. And no dishwashing station. Other that those things, this place has everything you really need for an excellent, relaxing getaway.

Very pleasant and private. Nice trails to hike on scenery was beautiful. No phone service. That didn’t bug me. Better to not have phones.
