What Guests Are Saying
Washington Cove is a well-maintained campground with friendly staff and clean facilities, making it a favorite for many campers. Visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and good access to the lake for activities like kayaking and fishing. However, some concerns include low water pressure, the need for longer hoses, and issues with large rocks in certain camping spots that pose a trip hazard.

The restrooms were cleaned daily and were in excellent shape. I especially enjoyed the ornamental plant beds in front of each restroom. The campground rules were fairly enforced and the area was quiet at night. I felt very safe here and would definitely like to return someday.

Arrived at Washington Cove COE campground on 6/9/24 to discover the nearby town of Copan and the campground are under a state ordered "Boil Water Advisory" since 5/14/24 - until further notice. This was not noted on recreation.gov, or (oddly enough) not mentioned in a couple of camper reviews published after the order was in place. After a long driving day, this was not good news. Our freshwater tank was empty but we always carry reserve water and that saved the day on our one night stay. Down by the lakeside at site 34, needed some substantial leveling but got the job done. Another oddity - no picnic table at this site. Restroom/showers were above average, and the park seems fairly well maintained, mowed, etc. Recommend if you are in the area.

The care takers are very nice. They do a wonderful job of keeping things tidy and clean, both in restrooms and at campsites (after people leave). They do not disturb your peace and quiet while you are camping. I recommend camping here anytime. I do wish the 14 days stay was lifted, especially when there are very few camping and the new reservation you want for a different space has open availability.

Love this spot! It might be the best spot on the lake that I’ve found so far! It’s a bit difficult to back a larger trailer in but otherwise it is great! Wish they still had some sites that were available on a first come first serve basis since the spots were already fully booked for the holiday weekend months ago, and we had to leave for the holiday and wait for a spot to open up. But other than that it’s a nice place with cleanish amenities. (The showers near the smaller numbered sites are immaculate not even bugs crawling around, but the ones near the park and higher number sites had a bunch of small pocket litter type trash just swept into the corners of the showers and lots of spiders .. and this was after the lady “cleaned the bathroom “ but I guess Some volunteers don’t clean as thoroughly as others) Also would be nice if they had a different system for the volunteer campers that insure fairness for all who would like to be able to stay there in exchange for upkeep of the property and facilities. It seems like the same people every year that are in the volunteer sites. It’s like They reserve their spot before the end of the season, before anyone else can. I have tried 2 seasons in a row with no luck! But it’s a very nice lake with a friendly and helpful host and cohost (gate attendants and staff)

We loved our stay at Washington Cove. We were in Space 56 and had a fabulous view of the pelicans on the peninsula near us. Park is well maintained, clean restrooms and quiet, peaceful location.
