What Guests Are Saying
Cookson Bend offers a relaxing atmosphere with clean campsites and friendly hosts, making it a pleasant experience for visitors. While some sites require maintenance, such as filling around concrete pads and removing dead trees, the restroom and shower facilities are well-maintained. Overall, campers appreciate the friendly staff and scenic views, though some have noted issues with overcrowding and site conditions.

The no parking sign in the center of the 51-57 horseshoe sites needs to be enforced. Very hard to get in and out when people park there. Other than that great sites. Had a great time! Clean friendly park.

Cookson Bend Campground (COE)
This is a lakeside campground with 2 primary sections terraced so that most campsites have at least a partial lake view. All sites are water/electric with sites 51 thru 57 offering 50 amp and the remaining sites 30 amp. Some of the 30 amp sites share water connections. There are 2 boat ramps.
Cookson Bend has the potential to be a beautiful campground but lacks facility and grounds maintenance. The shower house closest to our loop was closed, fire pits full, and the only interaction with a camp host was to remind us of the no parking areas (No one was parked in the no parking area). Unfortunately, this is well below the COE's typical standards.

Sites are tight, but nice water front even on the 2nd row back.
#1 problem in summer heat, they need 50 amp, especially for the bigger units. If you have a residential fridge, you can only run 1 AC, may be true for the smaller fridges too. You can’t cool anything over 34’ with 1 ac unit (usually). AND you can’t piggyback on the 30 and the 20amp, to get the 50 amp, the way they have them wired.

It was very quiet! Never been to this particular lake before, so it being quiet, and quiet time starting at 10pm everyone took that pretty seriously. It was very peaceful. I’m from the city, and I will definitely be back. Only thing that I was not very thrilled about was at first my first two nights was not bad, bathroom were always clean, and smelled nice like bleach. But when the weekend hit, and everyone started showing up the lines got backed up. Could not shower, or use the restrooms. Had to use the horrid outhouse lol. But overall experience was a very nice get away for an anniversary. No one messes with anyone. Slept in a tent the entire time, and when we would be gone throughout the day because it was to unbearable for the heat, had great neighbors that caught our canopy. Want a very enjoyable experience definitely go here!!! Highly recommend!
