What Guests Are Saying
Cedar Lake is highly praised for its beautiful campground, clean facilities, and well-maintained trails, making it a favorite destination for camping and horseback riding. The friendly camp host and the serene environment contribute to a positive experience, with many guests expressing their desire to return. However, some visitors noted maintenance issues with the showers, limited cell service, and the need for upgrades in certain areas, but these did not significantly detract from their overall enjoyment.

Beautiful quiet campground on a small lake with good hiking trails.
Only problem was a nonfunctional 50 amp breaker which I reported but never fixed during the 5 day stay

Trails were great! Fall colors were beautiful. I recommend Trail 5 & 9 this time of year. If you ride up to Talimena Scenic Drive and go west, there's a gorgeous overlook featuring Cedar Lake.

Cedar Lake Equestrian camp is our favorite place in Oklahoma to trail ride. Nice campgrounds, friendly staff, excellent trails, efficiently marked and beautiful scenery. We recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of Oklahoma from the back of a horse.

The good-The bathrooms were cleaner and better maintained than in years past. The riding and views were spectacular as always. Camp hosts were easily found if needed and did a good job enforcing the coggins test requirement.
The bad-Tons of manure were dumped by the contractor across from sites 10-16. This was authorized by someone with the Forest service so the contractor was simply following directions. Millions of flies were present and rapidly reproducing. No way for visitors to control them. Thirty yards away from the manure piles were the horse stalls including signage saying $300 mandatory fine for not cleaning stalls daily. I was unable to discover the name of the person that authorized the dumping of manure by the campsites but I haven't given up and will contact my US rep next week. The manure piles are a health hazard for not only transmission of diseases to horses but also to humans. We've enjoyed Cedar Lake equestrian area for years and have never encountered a problem such as I've described. Maybe we can get it fixed and educate the bureaucrats that don't understand how easily diseases can be transmitted by flies.
