What Guests Are Saying
Kiamichi Park offers beautiful, clean, and well-maintained campsites with stunning lake views, making it a popular choice for campers. Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and spacious sites, especially in the Juniper loop. However, some experienced issues with weather-related cancellations, communication, and maintenance, particularly concerning overgrown grass and restroom accessibility. Overall, guests express a strong desire to return despite minor inconveniences.

Every site in J loop is spectacular. Every site is landscaped and looks like something out of a magazine. Lots of hardscaping so if you have young kids, I’d suggest the other loops but i don’t recall the names. Those were grassy and also inviting.

Lake views were great though from our site N6 we were not able to see the lake from our camper or outside area. Essentially any other site on the N loop would have been better. Our preference for future visits would be the J loop with easier access to the water.

Absolutely love this park. I was camping with a group and next year planning on camping for a whole week or two. The sites are pretty level and concrete. All are on the water. Very peaceful and relaxing. The only drawback is the bath house is a little too far away.

Camp site not at all what was expected/described. Original site was back-in on grass area; difficult to even see actual "pad" area. Short, sharp drop off from paved road. Moved to paved, back-in, which was better and adequate for one night stopover. Bathroom/shower house okay; poorly ventilated. Aggressive dogs in next loop over barked incessantly, and not controlled by owners. If you want to stay longer, look for site in "premium" Loop J.

I have camped at Kiamichi Park probably half a dozen times over the past 12 years and am accustomed to seeing the campgrounds kept up very well. Sadly, this time, it was a disappointment. The grass—well, actually, it's primarily weeds—was nearly knee-high at our spot (J7). I had to buy a weedeater to knock down some pathways. The high weeds hid dropoffs and depressions around our campsite, which caused me to stumble and fall. That's not a good thing for a person with mobility issues. Thankfully, I was not injured. Additionally, our electrical box was full of old mud dauber nests, which I had to remove to plug in since all three receptacles were covered.
I inquired at the gate if and when there would be mowing, and I was told Congress had not appropriated funds for that. Really? People were paying for a service! This was the week of the Total Eclipse, and the park was packed. They knew they would have a full park since reservations started to fill six months prior. I am disappointed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I will be sending a letter to my Oklahoma Congressman and Senator.
On the upside, the bathrooms at Juniper were not too bad. They evidently had funds for that. Despite the crummy weather, I was surprised at how many campers were at the park during our ten-night stay.

registration was frustrating, we ended up driving through and using the QRC on the sites. Other than than it was most excellent, the shower was both hot and had pressure and the view was stunning.

We had a nice campsite in J loop. Level, easy to back into. There were so many fossils down on the lake shore it was crazy!! The only thing that bothered me was that the lights across from us were pretty bright and on all night but that wasn’t to much. We watched the eclipse here and it felt very special.
