What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground offers a beautiful setting beside a glacier-fed river, providing a cool swimming area during hot summer days. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and friendly hosts, ensuring a pleasant experience. However, visitors should be aware of the nearby train and highway noise, which can be disruptive at times, especially at night.

Had a couple great nights at black canyon. Some sites are close to the highway (road noise) and some outhouses are no longer there, but overall quite nice and clean. Host was super-helpful.

Very easy to reserve on RECREATION.GOV mobile app,.we reserve during week days and the place is very nice and quiet(while the noise train is not passing near every couple hours anyway 😆) ,other than that it has clean water available, clean vault toilets, pet friendly, overall it's a good place, first time for us June 15th 2023,we definitely will come back again

The campsites numbered 40+ are some of the best. Lots of space between sites allows a secluded feel that is just perfect. Beautiful nature, well-managed facilities, and a friendly camp host. I will definitely be coming back next year!

Didn't know there would be a freight train barreling down the tracks on the other side of the river every so often throughout the night.

Site 003 was secluded from other sites. If we stay at the Area Black Canyon Campground in the future we will do our best to reserve a site closer to the river and away from the busy highway noise. I am frustrated with whoever is responsible for denying our request for a refund for the nights of July 11th 12th and 13th. We cancelled those nights with a customer service rep from Recreation.gov. We were informed we would receive a refund for the nights we canceled minus cancellation fees. We were asked by the recreation.gov customer service rep to notify the camp post that we would be leaving on the dates referred to above. He can’t host nor anyone in that campsite had access to cell service it was a dead space for all cell carriers. The morning of the 11th around 9 AM we visited the camp hosts campsite to inform them and verify that we would not be in the campsite for the next three days. For some reason we received an email two weeks after we left that the facility manager denied our request. I spent approximately one hour Speaking to two different customer service reps from Recreation.gov and they could not give me any contact information for the facility manager. In fact they had known number and the only number I could get was someone named Susan V. Bottom line the money wasn’t much it’s the principle of the thing that we did not stay the night so the 11th 12th and 13th. We canceled according to the policy but either the camp host whoever the facility manager is denied it and we don’t know why. Very frustrated with Recreation.gov that they can make reservations but they have no ability to handle any problems that may arise. If there’s anyway to make reservations in the future of that recreation.gov I’m going to try to do so.
