I'm a water person so I wish I had reserved a spot closer to the boat ramp. It was our first time camping at this campground so we have learned! Our campsite (#3) had a ton of mosquitoes in mid-July. Perhaps being by a moving, rather than still, water source would have improved the mosquito issue.

This was our second year at the campground this year we stayed in space 8. My 2 sons age 5 and 2 really enjoyed their time there and enjoyed playing in the small creeks on the property. The hosts were really nice and were plesent to work with. We are looking forward to coming back next year.

Unfortunately our vacation was cut short because of the horrible experience. We have even to McKenzie 3 times in the past and it has always been a lovely stay. This time, helicopters were flying overhead the entire day. One day, they started at 6 am. We had to spend all day away from the campsite and return at dinner time. It was seriously, tortuous. It would have been nice to receive an email prior to our stay offering to cancel because of the known logging going on. We just could not take it anymore and left a day early. Also, there was no toilet paper in any of the vault toilet rooms. Our reservation was from 6/19-6/23 and the last recorded cleaning was 6/16. Good thing we brought wipes! We will never go back to McKenzie.

The hosts were very friendly and informative. Drinking water is available by hand pumps in the campground. There are vault toilets only. There is no lighting, so it is nice to sleep in pitch dark and listen to the river. The campground is just off of Rt.126, so we did hear some traffic noise at times.
We went to Sahalie and Koosah falls nearby. These falls are a definite must see. The McKenzie River Trail is very scenic. Blue Pool access was closed, so maybe we can see it next visit.

We stayed at #8 for 4 nights and it was literally the best campsite I’ve ever stayed in. We checked in on a Monday and had the whole place to ourselves for a few days. The river was so close and the forest was stunning. The bathrooms were basic but very clean. We were already planning our next trip before our stay ended. Absolutely heavenly ❀️

I do not recommend site #7 for anything other than a tent! We showed up with our 20 ft trailer and there was no way we were getting in this spot. It says it can accommodate a 25ft trailer and there is NO way. It doesn't mention that the width is probably less than 10 ft, so even if we could back in to it, it would be tight with the slide out and no chance you are getting your awning out with the trees and brush. Also to say this is riverfront is very misleading. There is no direct access to the river from this site. There is a lot of brush and in order to get to river you'd be walking through your neighbors site. While you can hear the river you do not have a view or a path that isn't overgrown. The camp host was nice and even admitted that site 7 is really tight and she has problems with people not being able to fit in it. We had our choice of first come sites (because it was a million degrees)that we could have moved to, but of course had to pay extra. We wouldn't get a refund on the site we booked and couldn't use. We decided to not stay, mostly beacuse it was just too hot with no hookups. The campground looked pretty though and was relatively untouched by wildfires that raged the area last fall. We may try again next year
