I camped solo with my dog at Kinnikinnick Lake for the first time and felt completely safe. The setting was beautiful, and having Parkdale nearby for extra supplies was a plus.
Camp host Cindy was fantastic—a friendly, consistent presence who kept the facilities in great shape.
Most campsites have a communal feel. While privacy is limited, you get prime access to the lake and fewer crowds than nearby Lost Lake.
The road in is rough, but the day-use area was popular with anglers. After this trip, I’m inspired to learn how to fish.

Great site, very spacious and although it’s not directly on the water it’s only steps away. You do have to “hike in” but it’s a very short walk, maybe 30 feet at most. Pit toilet by the boat ramp was pretty terrible, but we were there right after 4th of July weekend and there was a heat wave, both things which impacted its state. Make sure to bring a paddle board or kayak to check out the gorgeous view of Mt Hood from the water (the mountain is behind the campground and not visible unless you are on the water). The road in was washed out but our Explorer managed it fine as well as our friend’s small rv.

The camp host was a real stickler, threatening us about every rule and we did nothing wrong.

We really enjoyed our night at this campground and site 1 was very secluded. Would definitely come back!
