The lake is very beautiful, with good swimming and great hikes nearby. However this is not my favorite campground. The campsites are very close together and all adjacent to the day use area, which gets extremely loud and crowded. It was the most noisy and crowded campground experience I have had in the PNW.

We had a wonderful stay. Site 21 was fairly private and there were no mosquitoes. Had a great time hiking and playing in the lake. The road in was fine in an SUV. Firewood is available onsite and nearby.

I appreciated that it was tent camping only and no motorized boats on this fairly large lake. Kept noise levels minimal. Lake water was still too cold for swimming in June. Campsites were not very private. The bathrooms were well maintained, better than most. Good base camp for other daytime explorations in the area.

Incredibly quiet, very pretty, friendly ranger/host, and clean bathrooms. We were at site 20 nestled in the center of the site away from the driveway, which was confusing to find at first because we didn't understand that it wasn't a drive up/park in site. We had to walk several yards to and from the car for supplies, but luckily we're fit. Foliage is pretty dense and the sites were very big, so there was a lot of privacy. And you can't beat the view of Mt Hood. We'll def be back.

Kinnikinnick Campground is accessible via I-84, with a route south on Highway 35 from Hood River to Parkdale, where signs direct visitors to Laurance Lake.
Elevation: 913 feet

Policies & Rules
General
- There are no water, power or sewer hookups. No cell service. There is a 16 to 18" forge crossing the road at Elliot Creek. The forge is approximately 12' in width. The road is rough and not trailer friendly.
- Learn more about the Mt. Hood National Forest.
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Campground taxes and fees: 2%
- There is no selling or swapping of sites among guests.
- Site Fee includes ONE vehicle. Additional vehicles on site will be required to pay additional vehicle fee. This fee can only be paid in person on site. Extra vehicle fee cannot be collected online.
