I have been going here for 30 years, its lovely as always and a few things i wish were different this time:
1) we had a camping reservation for a sunday and the line of cars was so long for “day use” people waiting and they were waiting for other day use people to leave so they could go in ….it took us 30 minutes and wasted gas before we realized we could drive on “wrong side” of road and go thru because we were not “day use”. Either limit day use people on weekends like old times or enforce the “full” signs u have at lolo pass and on road and/or have staff check and communicate up the line of cars that people with reservations can move on through. If i hadnt asked we have been there at least an hour behind 30-40 cars.
2) I wish the America Beautiful pass was honored here like other campgrounds for a discount. I know this campground is under contract but being HR local means my pass doesnt work at most of these contracted out campgrounds or maybe honor it for locals??

Third time and I think my last, for sure I’m never camping here on a weekend again. Lake access is such a hassle fighting with the day use folks for one of the limited spots. Not relaxing when you have to go stake out a spot by 9am to hang out by the lake for the day. And most of the campsites are a hike to the lake, with very limited parking if you want to drive.
IMO they should clear out more lakeside spots, move the boat rentals which takes up by far the biggest and nicest part of the shoreline, or limit total day use occupancy until they figure out another solution.
Also why can’t you check-in at the drive thru booth at entry? We were told we have to go to the lodge to check-in, where she looks up your name and gives you a parking pass which takes 10 seconds but requires you to fight crowds and traffic to get to the lodge.
I’m really not as picky or annoying as this review makes me sound, I swear. It’s just unfortunate because all the issues with lost lake are solvable- it’s so gorgeous with so much potential to be the best spot on hood.
Site A022 was decent, two tent spots but one wasn’t level. Close to the main road so kinda noisy. The gator UTVs used by the staff are obnoxiously loud.

This is our favorite campground. It was cooler then expected, but perfect for a hike around the lake, SUP
On lake. We go every year and love it.
