River super accessible and cute interesting towns and recreation in every direction. Site 02 has best view although 01 had its own path to river, otherwise river accessed at public beach on other side of campground. 03 and 02 are on the end and have the most privacy. 01 and 00 (which the host said was "her" campground and kept empty even though she lives in RV spot at top) are near where RVs park and you might be subject to generators. The campsites are medium in size and not a lot of privacy between them unless you park car and pitch tent strategically. The camp host walks straight through campsites at all times and even stuck her unmasked face in my car window right when I drove up to tell me I had to leave at 10 am the next day or pay more even though I had 6 nights reserved. I do appreciate she is present, observing, and involved. I think she means well in her own roughNready way. However, she tends to badger certain people and I wish she and her male cohabitant would spend more time cleaning and disinfecting the bathrooms where 2 stalls each side are shared by an average of 40 campers and then 20 or more day users. Spray disinfectant, let it sit for 5 minutes, then get a hose and spray out the whole thing. Save some lives, maybe.

The campground is wonderful. There are only a handful of sites so it never feels over crowded and half of them parallel the water. However, due to staffing issues on behalf of the concessionaire the poor camp-host had to maintain both campgrounds on her own which resulted in the bathrooms constantly needing attention. She was very polite and did her best!

It would have been nice to know that there are no showers there, before I made the reservation. The river is rather cold even in high summer. Overall it was a nice campground, wonderfully quiet during the week.

  • Dumping of sewage or gray water is prohibited.
  • When your first camping night is a Friday or Saturday night, a two-night minimum reservation is required.
  • This is a USFS facility, operated under a special-use permit by Aztoor LLC. All inquiries should be directed to: www.applegatelake.com, which also has direct contact information for email & phone.

  • Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
  • Cancellations: Recreation.gov collects an $8 reservation fee, which is non-refundable. The campsite cancellation fee is a flat $10 for your entire reservation. EXAMPLE: if you booked (2) nites at $30 per nite, your total camping fee would be $68. If you cancelled at least 48-hours prior to your reservation arrival, your refund would be: $68-$8-$10 = $50 net refund. If you late cancel (within 48-hr of your arrival), you will also forfeit the first-nite camping fee. In this same example, you would be refunded: $68-$8-$10-$30 = $20 net refund. Processing refunds is time-consuming & expensive for the facility, and we potentially will not refill your camping spot. This loses revenue for the facility due to your situation & circumstances changing.
