Lake of the Woods has been my families favorite spot for generations. My grandma was a Girl Scout Troop leader in the 60s and my mom and my aunts grew up going to Camp Low Echo. My kids and I were not scouts but we have enjoyed many seasons camping at Aspen Point and Sunset all throughout our childhoods. This last weekend was my daughter's 18th birthday and she chose camping at Lake of the Woods as how she wanted to spend her birthday weekend. I was able to rent a 4 man pontoon boat for her and her boyfriend and my son and his girlfriend. They fished and had a wonderful time. We just happened to pick the same weekend as the 1st bbq and live music night of the year. Ironically, my daughter's boyfriend's grandpa was in the band that played on Saturday night. What a great night! Lake of the Woods is our happy place.

I just wish there were showers available at Sunset campground as well as water hook ups.
Staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Camp sites are secluded and have plenty of privacy.
Thank You

Sunset Campground is located next to a lake and is quite picturesque. I was at campsite #56, which was nearly level and plenty large enough for my 24' Class C rig. The camp host arrived shortly after I parked and was friendly, providing a wealth of information about the campground and the lake, which has a marina and resort a short walk away. I enjoy hiking, and there were plenty of hikes from the campground. The major drawback to this area is the mosquitoes. On one hike, I turned around because I was surrounded by hundreds of the pests the entire time. I could not leave my rig without slathering on tons of bug repellent.
Another con was the dump station, which charges $12, even for campers. I prefer the campground to charge everyone an additional, say, $3.00 for a site fee and offer a free dump for campers.
This is a lake lovers campground for sure!

Great campground but I wish they'd ban generators. It ruined the experience having to listen to other people's generators all day and into the late evening.

We had a great time! We love the campsites and the campground was quiet. Wish there were water & electrical hook ups.

This year it's just not up to par. Restrooms have the same bugs and cobwebs everyday. Clearly NOT CLEANED as usual!
I was there 4 days NEVER saw any campsite cleaned and mine had cans and trash. Table was covered in pine needles. These hosts are NOT great. Used to be pristine. Can't imagine how bad it will be as the summer continues.

The campsites are huge, lots of space in between sites. The park is clean and well maintained. Cell service/internet was readily available. We went in early June, and the Mosquitos were very glad to see us, so be prepared for the welcome committee. Can’t wait to return!

It’s probably in terms of setup a four star. Reason I give it only 3 is because I was a bit disappointed by the lakeside area. The sites are away from it - most of them are and the forest is dense here. No visibility of lake or mt.McLoughlin unless you walk straight to the lake shore literally. In loop A at least also no dedicated trail or area so you have to pass the couple is sites that are there which is awkward. Due to the dense forest it’s dark early and probably colder then it would be otherwise. I love forest and trees, but this is sort of deep in the woods.

Had moved from Lake of the Woods resort over to Sunset. There were NO MOSQUITOS AT THE RESORT. Before I could get out of my Rv it was swarming with mosquitos. I LEFT AND WENT BACK TO THE RESORT FOR 3 more nights. I asked for a refund and it was denied by camp host!
