My first visit to Fishermen's Bend two summers ago was horrid, all-night parties, smoke, and limited wheelchair access. I said I would give it another go, and I did. I learned where the best sites were (I don't advise camping near the playground,) and my service dog and I took off exploring with full batteries. We found a wonderful wheelchair accessible overlook to the river, our favorite spot now, and new paved trails. Wheelchair users are supposed to fish from that overlook, but unless you're fishing for rocks, it doesn't go out long enough and the railing is too high. The staff are nice and helpful, and they are taking the unleashed dog issue seriously now. The only shower I could use with my wheelchair was in River Loop. Go in the fall, when the kids are back in school, and Detroit Lake is emptied out into the river; it's beautiful with lots of duck families. Supposedly, you can find deer down the unpaved trail past the accessible overlook. Champoeg State Park has wheelchair-accessible deer. Fishermen's Bend is one of our favorite campgrounds, now, right behind Champoeg State Park (more paved trails, even to the General Store and museum.) There's plenty of shopping in Stayton, only 16 miles shy of the park on Hwy 22, something I wish I had known at the beginning. Maybe someday they'll put in a sidewalk from Fishermen's Bend to Mill City, so wheelchair users could go pick up a pizza, ice cream, Subway, or mail a post card. Not everyone has a toad. The way my service dog acts when we pull into Fishermen's Bend versus Detroit Lake tells me everything I need to know -- paved trails, beautiful river, full hookups, accessible shower, and friendly staff = awesome!

We really loved our visit, by you must be careful if you want electrical and water and sewer. Not all sites have that.

Cabin was very clean & comfortable for four adults. Campground was quiet and well maintained. Explored several hiking trails in the area. Excellent destination and plan on returning.

The location provided a wonderful camping experience for my wife and me along with two grandsons. They enjoyed fishing, hiking and activities on the playground.

Beautiful campground but that removed soooooo many trees that privacy and the ability to access shade in the hot summer is destroyed. Unfortunate...

Great place to go. This is the mountain place and try to be here first thing out and last time out! Perfect for retired people with dogs in a camper! The only problem are the idiots who can not read the dogs on leash signs! But the place and the park people are great.

I love the low key environment to just hang out and relax.
