Bathrooms were closed except you still get charged full price for camping. Also, no recycling area. Pretty ironic.

Eel Creek campground is a very nice place to camp. Most sites are private with vegetation between each. A great place to experience the open vastness of the Oregon dunes with out ATVs. Eel Lake is a few miles up the road for water fun and Winchester Bay 15 minutes north for beach walking.

Generally quiet and under-used. Great dune access. The camp hosts are truly the best out there! I've been before and will be back.

The reservation-only system is terrible and makes no sense for this campground--if it makes sense for any. Travelers can't know in advance which site they want, or even if they want to stay at that campground, and when they get to the campground the host is unable to change sites, so heaven forbid you pick one that you don't like. I'm forced to make a reservation but then am not allowed to cancel day of. We had two nights booked and weren't able to use either because of weather. But there is no point trying to cancel, so that means if any other campers came later and wanted to use those sites, even if they are empty, they won't be able to--BUT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ANYWAY DAY OF w/o reserve! This campground is usually completely empty during the winter, but if I go out there same day, I still can't stay there. This used to be my favorite spot because it's empty and quiet and other than summer months always has open spots. I have favorite sites, but I wasn't even able to reserve the right ones because I didn't know the number--and I can't change sites! This is ridiculous and flies in the face of what a campground is--a place you show up at the end of the day, select an open spot that looks good, and then pay for it. During the summer, perhaps half of the sites should be reservation only. The rest, first-come first serve. And in the off season, all sites should be first-come first serve. We had a terrible experience in booking (website sucks) and then didn't even stay there because how could we know our plan at the end of a 2000-mile roadtrip might change? Actually, we did know it may, but we either book in advance or have no place to stay. It makes no sense, it's stressful, and it's not the way National Forest land should operate. Covid restrictions are over. Open up the campgrounds. I'll bet the hosts will thank you, too. Terrible experience at one of my all-time favorite sites, and I'm out $60 for the privilege. If I could give Recreation.gov no stars, I would.

We arrived late, so we weren't able to properly check in, however, finding our spot wasn't hard, so we parked and left in the morning. No one checked.

Great place to stay if you wanna surf the Oregon Dunes as the campsite has a 5 minute path to them! No showers, but does have flush toilets that are simple but clean. We did our laundry at an RV park down the road. Otherwise a good stop of one or two days.

Great campground in a peaceful treed setting. Spacious spots with quite a few suitable for larger trailers. Larger rigs can get in/out easily. Water available throughout campground.

The sites were great and the camp host was very nice. We had a big group and took up the whole smaller loop. Just don't leave bikes or anything out. Our son's fat tire bike got stolen our first night there.

This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
