On arrival, I stopped to show my camping reservation to the host. She did not tell me that the bathrooms were closed. The nearest restroom was 4 miles away. Also, a nearby campsite started a loud generator near dusk, which at least drown out the distant dune buggy noise. The dunes themselves are still fabulous, and the dune buggies are not allowed in the area near the campground. Last time I camped there it was October and not crowded, a much better experience.
ps, I was told that they were bringing in port-a-potties until the restrooms could be repaired.

Bathrooms were not functioning well upon arrival, host was informed by several people and yet did not report to USFS until Saturday morning (per the ranger that was trying to figure out the problem). Water was shut off, and all bathrooms were closed. Buck toilets were not brought in until Sunday morning so we had to leave the campground for 2 days to use facilities and purchase water. I would like a refund for the 3 sites, but can't figure out how to request one on your website.

No working toilets and water was shut off. Bathrooms were closed and had to leave campground to find working facilities

Bathrooms were reasonably clean and the campsites in good shape. A little more signage on the trails would be helpful.
The eight dollar reservation fee is excessive especially considering it is automated. Would be willing to pay half that much.

This was the worst campsite I have ever visited. And even though the site was strewn with garbage, debris from recent attempts to prune the (still) overgrown shrubs, and the the lack of level ground for my vehicle or the provided table, the rather foggy-headed camp host refused to let us move to any of the 20 or more other empty sites. I camp the coast several times each year and though this was my first visit to Eel Creek, I will certainly never go back.

We stayed for a week in our 30' class A, and it was what we expected. It was never too busy, and the site was plenty big enough for our vehicles to fit (although the side clearance was close with slides out). We really liked that every site was mostly private but several of the sites you can get through the bushes to your neighbor. The bathrooms were VERY clean, and the hosts kept everything orderly. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to improve the road itself. There are many sizeable dips that flooded during our stay and left about 12" of standing water. If you want your own private access to dunes and a quick drive to most conevniences, this is a great campground. Highly recommend

It's a beautiful, clean campsite. Most spaces are surrounded by bushes that offer some privacy.

Normally I have a perfectly wonderful time here. However, this time, some homeless folks were living in the spot I had reserved, and for many hours I was unable to find a park host to help. I called the Customer Service Center, had to wait over 20 minutes on hold, and a very nice customer support agent tried to help me change spots. However, data is sketchy out there and we lost connection.
I assumed no camp host was available at all, and did not want to drive home in the dark rain (I love 2.5 hours away from Ell Creek, so I nervously set up camp in another spot, hoping I wouldn't be booted out since the change of reservation hadn't completed as far as I am aware.
The camp hosts finally came by around dark. They were very understanding, and let me stay in the other site although I wasn't actually able to change the reservation.

This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
