The location was excellent, in the midst of Oregon Dunes Recreational Area. The campsites were mostly fairly private. And the camp host was very laid back, but informative and non-intrusive.
We only had 2 complaints. First was that the space assigned to us was too small for our 19-foot travel trailer, and far too close to the main road. Happily, we were able to switch sites, and enjoyed a very private space near the lagoon itself. But in a stay of 3 nights, the ranger came by to say half the campground was shutting down for the season on the last night. And though we would only have been in the closed section for a single night, we had to pack up the trailer, move it 300 feet and get one of the last spaces in the now-nearly full campground.
There were no gates nor cleanup needed. The only way anybody knew the loop was closed was a portable 'Road Closed' sign across the road. The experience did lessen our enthusiasm for the campground a bit. We have usually enjoyed a degree of informality and flexibility with Forest personnel.

We like Lagoon campground. It's usually not too noisy, the sites are clean and its open year-round. It's also just an hour and a half from home. The only downside is the snowy plover closers. I know the birds need protection; it just means that we have to drive up to the south Jetty beaches so our dog can enjoy the beach with us. We also like to paddle the river, big plus!

The campground was fine, but the view of the lagoon from the trail wasn't great due to high bushes.

The campground is great-very well maintained. My only complaint is having to make a reservation ahead of time-very challenging if there is no internet or it’s too late to call. There needs to be an option to pay at the park, or the host (who also couldn’t help).

Some of the sites didn't have very good privacy from other sites.
Some distant noise from ATVs at nearby Driftwood 2 campground.
The website said not to bring your own firewood in order to not spread pests but that the camp host could sell you firewood. When I asked the host he said he wasn't supposed to sell campers firewood. What are the real rules/recommendations about this?
Nice walking trails at Lagoon and Wax Myrtle.
