We had a great experience at the Lagoon Campgrounds. The site was clean and easy to back into. Things got a little noisy towards sunset with the Dune buggies we’re still racing, but we couldn’t hear them in our travel trailer. The hike from the Hwy 101 trail head to the lake was easy and fun (4 mile round trip). Kayaking on the lake was calm and warm until about 11 am when the wind came up. We tried fishing with lures, worms and power bait, but no luck. No one else was fishing!

One of our favorite campgrounds. The setting of the campground around the lagoon is like being part of the wildlife: blue herons, cranes, bald eagles, kingfisher, etc. and that is from the trail just behind your tent or trailer. Unfortunately, there is too much wroom wroom, particularly the weekends, to fully enjoy the park. Great hikes and fantastic beach where dogs are allowed (on the right side only, the left if for the adorable protected Western Snowy Plover). Several times, we met park volunteers who were welcoming and helpful with information about the park and its wildlife. We enjoy the Lagoon Campground best off season.

Our campsite could not fit our tents and our firepit was a fire hazard. It was "L" shaped and was barely 5 inches off the ground. Has low hanging trees above it. We asked the host why this spot wasn't flagged and was allowed to be reserved, she shrugged and said it was was it was and then joked about not burning the forest down. We were obviously able to have a good time and make it fun. Even tried to fix the firepit a bit.

I've toured up and down the Oregon coast many times and I found this place almost by accident a couple years ago. All I can say is that it is one of favorite places on the coast. I simply love the dunes.. If you are not fond of listening to ATVs racing around the dunes all day then this place isn't for you. However, in my opinion, it isn't noisy.. I love the fact the a person has to climb up and over a big dune to get to the ocean. Lots of hiking to be done. I've personally seen bear tracks as well as deer. I saw a grey fox on my recent visit passing thru the campground.. Lots of wildlife... Even saw sea otters in a pond off of the Waxmyrtle trail..
