What Guests Are Saying
Siltcoos Sand Camping offers a beautiful and secluded setting, making it a great choice for those seeking a unique camping experience. While some guests noted noise from nearby parties and the presence of trash, the site is praised for its spaciousness and the opportunity to observe wildlife. A bad experience overall. I couldn't find anywhere to park my car to hike into the sand camping, everywhere said do not park here so I drove around for an hour trying to get help from a campsite host. Literally, all of them were off duty and hid inside their RVs as to not have to help me. I eventually decided to park near a trailhead and take my chances of not getting a fine. I get to my designated spot and some lady is parked there with her RV and truck. She said that the spot was open on the site and she purchased it. I had previously reserved that spot weeks in advance so either she was lying or this site sucks. Then she said she would be ok to "share the spot" as if she had a rightful claim of the spot which I had paid for. I just decided to go up the road and camp in the trees because I didn't want to have to listen to a generator all night. This area really doesn't want you in it and wants you to pay every opportunity it can get. I wouldn't recommend camping here in the sand, just pick a rv spot.

Great location and close to trails. Lots of space to put tents and vehicles.

Great large camp for families. Kids love it! Just a huge sand box to play in.
Do your homework before you go. Make sure you have the mandatory equipment before driving on the sand. This section of the dunes can be thick so be prepared. Close enough to the road that most rigs can make it to the site, but far enough away to feel privacy.

We had not camped or ridden here in all of the years we have been coming to the coastal dunes. We had a blast, very different terrain. Will be back!!

Pro: Campsite spacing is mostly good. Toilets excellent. We like campsites without electricity, water and sewer - generally makes for a more diverse and interesting group of fellow campers.
Con: A better explanation of same day reservations is needed. Fortunately, another camper helped us out. In the case of Siltcoos, there needs to be a map showing where cell reception is best.

There's literally no information on how to actually get to these campsites. Asked multiple people (including rangers) and nobody seemed to know what we were talking about. Total waste of time/money.

There is a 14-day in 30 rolling days camping limit on the Siuslaw National Forest. The 14 days does not have to be consecutive. The 14-day limit covers the entire Siuslaw National Forest and not just this campground as shown in the Rules Section. This means you cannot go to other campgrounds on the Siuslaw National Forest after reaching the 14-day limit. |
