I love Waxmyrtle! It is small, quiet, and located near the ocean, with access to nearby rivers and lakes for kayaking.
I've stayed here many times. The only drawback is that nearby is a campground for Dune Buggies and ATVs, and sometimes they run all night. Which is extremely loud.

This was our second stay at Waxmyrtle and it was even better than last time. The camp host was WONDERFUL! Very welcoming and informative about the area, even suggesting places we should check out/eat. The only things we didn’t care for were due to disrespectful campers setting off fireworks and allowing their dogs to bark for hours. Tip: Make sure you take time to put away ALL food items. There are large and small critters that frequent the campground.

Our camp host was the best ever! We’ve been coming to this campground for family reunions for over 60 years (now 4th generation)

Lovely campground. It’s usually fairly quiet because there are no ATVs or RV hookups here.

Love this site! Only about a .75 walk through beautiful forest to the deserted beach where elephant seals were lounging around. It's unfortunate that OHVs sometimes make a lot of noise. Honestly, they should be banned outright from all public land. But otherwise, this is a perfect camping spot, especially if you choose your site wisely. The proximity to Florence is another plus.

The camp host was amazing and personable. Men’s room faucet was broken. Wish the campground sold firewood and would consider putting in a small boat ramp for putting in/taking out kayaks and paddle boards.
