What Guests Are Saying

Susan Creek Campground is highly praised for its beautiful, well-maintained sites, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, spacious campsites, and excellent access to the Umpqua River for various outdoor activities. However, there were concerns about recent health issues related to water contamination and the absence of firewood sales, which disappointed some campers.

On the second day of our three day day, one person in our party became sick with stomach issues. We learned later in the day that other campers in the campground also had similar issues. Late in that second day, the camp ground host came by and said the water may be contaminated. She said we had to leave the next day. Even after that notice, all the campground faucets were still open and no signs were placed on them, saying the water could be contaminated. By the time we left four out of six in our party were sick. The sickness lasted typically about two days. It seems like if the water was contaminated somebody from the state of Oregon should’ve come by tested the water and maybe asked people staying there if they had any symptoms. We understand the campground is now closed for two weeks because of the potentially contaminated water. We were rebated $10 but that seems like a trifle compared to being sick for two days.

Susan Creek has always been one of our favorite campsites. Our experience was disappointing. Camp ran out of propane for a couple days leaving no hot water. And apparently the restroom was not cleaned properly causing a number of campers to get norovirus - us included.

Usually love this campground but this year most of our group got very sick with some kind of gastroenteritis. They closed the campground for cleaning the day we all left but they should have done so sooner. From what I’ve read, people have been getting ill for at least two weeks. Bathrooms were out of soap and there was no hot water three of the four days we were there.

My family had a horrible experience. We got norovirus and spent a terrible two days vomiting and diarrhea, terrible aches and pain.

There was no soap only hand sanitizer, which does not prevent norovirus!
