When we arrived no one was at the gate so we went to our campsite and setup our camper. We drove to a hiking trail and when we came back the gate was staffed by a campground host. This particular host did not welcome us or offer any help so I just said we were going back to our campsite. He asked accusingly where our car pass was as if we had committed a felony. I told him when we arrived there was no staff at the gate and we didn't know we needed anything. He went into the office and retrieved our site pass and parking pass and told us to make sure the parking pass was facing the correct way because he "hates" when people put them the other way. We went back to our site and then went kayaking. Had a great time paddling across the lake. When we were pulling our kayaks out on the FREE public launch that can fit probably 3-4 boat trailers across we had a random guy come up to us and say "I don't want to be that guy, but" you shouldn't use the boat launch for kayaks. Now if there would have been boats lined up waiting to get out we would have found a place along the shore to get out and carried our kayaks, but there was literally one boat getting out with tons of space in between us. I asked the guy if he had to pay for the boat launch, knowing that it was free to the public, and he said "That's the great part about this place, the boat launch is free to everyone." My point went right over his head and I just let it go. Other than the difficult people we encountered the bathrooms are extremely out dated. We will not be going back to Shenango campground.

Nice campground with electric only sites in some of the loops. The showers are dated. I'm sure they're clean, but they don't look it. A trip to Handel's ice cream was a highlight.
