Beautiful campground at the lake. Downsides are boat access is not limited to lakeside campsites. You could book a site months in advance then arrive and not be able to swim, fish, or put in your own boat at your site because other people are using it. They can even walk right through your site to get to the water. There’s also no specific decibel maximums on generators. You could have neighbors who run loud generators 16 hours a day. If those two things were adjusted, the campground would be 5 stars. Good enough bathrooms, gorgeous views, and many larger sites. Oh… the skunk infestation continues to be an issue. We couldn’t stay up past dark without skunks coming into the site and not being deterred by us.

We thought we had a decent site with shade after switching from original site that didn’t meet our requirements, but after the first hard rain our site turned into a river of mud and areas all around the camper had water laying everywhere for 3 days before it started drying up. The site needs major renovation with more gravel put down for starters. There are a lot of areas in the campground that need repairs but that doesn’t look like it is happening.
The bathrooms are horrible looking with peeling paint and rust on all the stalls. Apparently park maintenance is no longer a priority. We have been camping at this location since the early 80’s and this was the most disappointing stay we have ever had.
Also trying to modify reservations when you are already at the campground is almost impossible online and also getting a human to answer the reservation line -98 minute wait time?? The office staff are limited with help because of lack of access also. If you are already at the campground with a reservation the staff on site should be able to help make changes if needed to simplify the process.
Recreation.gov needs some serious help!

The camping was fine. I recommend adding more electric sites. I would also recommend boats not allowed to park in the designated beach areas as swimming or fishing becomes too difficult or impossible.
Thank you!
