Tompkins Campground offers spacious, clean sites with friendly staff, making it a favorite for families and returning visitors. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lake for paddling, and well-maintained bathrooms contribute to a positive experience. Very nice campsite. Well shaded, near the water. Plenty of firewood around to forage for, and right next to a nice fishing hole - if you're into those things. Would definitely stay again.

This particular campsite (#85) was not very well-shaded.

Tompkins Campground at Cowenesque Lake is a very nice "basic" campground. I say basic because it is not an RV resort with playgrounds and amusements for the kids, just good old fashioned camping. There is a nice beach at the lake for swimming and if you want to boat or fish, this is a great place. We stayed in a loop with water and electric, while most of the rest of the loops had full hookups. The sites are well spaced and nicely arranged. Once they complete the sewer hookups in the Cove loop, this facility would rate 5 stars, especially for those with a Senior Interagency Pass.

Been coming here since being opened.Found no one at the check-in building and just wander around to find the camp site. The site was clean but the pad was all moss and needed a good cleaning. All an all this is not what expect from what we know the sites where in the pass.Virus is not an excuse for what we found. We will probley stay again but will have to find a better site.
