BEAUTIFUL campground! HUGE sites! LOTS of privacy. Neat. Clean. Very nice, welcoming, and helpful camp host. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay. No cell service for us there but it was nice to detox from social media. Plus it is a quick drive into town to check phones for important notifications. Food Lion, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Subway, and a few other eating places close by but if you need anything else it will be a long drive. We will for sure visit again. Not sure if I can share a link here but here is a short video showing our site and experience here: https://youtu.be/BpdsHO7grvE

Very clean, quite, and well maintained campground with super nice attendants and a fair amount of space between the campsites. Lake views are great, especially the sunsets, though actual access to the water from most sites is difficult due to steep banks. However the steep banks and creek channel gives some excellent fishing opportunities as evidenced by the numerous bass fisherman in the Hawe Creek near the campground. The Creek also offers good kayak areas without having to deal with choppy water like you do in the lower ends of the lake closer to the dam.

Good time on site 23. Good fishing at the dock - my son caught an 84 lb blue cat this trip. Last trip in July he caught a flat head at the same dock around 40 lbs. Nice private sites, good fishing. Seems to be getting more difficult to find availability, hope this lace stays open year round.

What a gem. Sites were much larger than the nearby state park campgrounds. Volunteer host Walter went out of his way to make sure restrooms were extra clean during this COVID time. Children may be put off as there is no playground or camp store, just lots of woods and water. Too bad it closes so soon in the fall or we would be back in October when the weather has cooled.

This was our 7th visit to a COE campground. We had a family get together from 9/7-11/ 2020. Our family meet at Hawe Creek campground near McCormick, SC. Our reservation for three camp sites proved to be exactly right. Upon set up we had a problem, the site chosen for two of our elders had an electrical failure. Being older and with the September heat, an electrical hookup was much needed. Our arrival had occurred late afternoon on the last day of the Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the park attendants, to find that an electrician would be hard to find. The attendants where tremendous and immensely helpful. They found a fix that saved the night and kept our elders from having to switch sites or losing rest/sleep after they had just driven from south Florida in two days.
