What Guests Are Saying
Sheridan Lake offers great tent and RV camping with spacious, shaded sites and a beautiful lakeside location, perfect for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The clean facilities and friendly hosts enhance the overall experience, despite some concerns about limited infrastructure and cellular service. While some campers noted noise from generators and construction, many found the setting peaceful and enjoyable, making it a desirable spot for future visits.

Wonderful campground with the exception of the billions of flies that covered the walls of the outhouse. No sign in outhouse saying "please close the toilet lid after use" which would have helped to keep the flies at bay. Informed concessionaire at gate and their reply was "we are in the process of painting", but we saw no signs of painters or prep in our 8 days there. Outhouse ran out of tp 2 days before our departure, again we informed the concessionaire and no action was taken to re-supply the tp. Campground was full of big rv's, most of which ran generators. Forest Service should consider making some of the loops generator free for those of us that don't want to hear the generators roar so that someone can watch tv or run their AC. Lake and surrounding area was absolutely beautiful.

The view of the lake was beautiful!! Campground was clean, quiet. Pet friendly. September nights can get chilly… make sure to pack extra blankets if tenting! 😊

We had a very successful and enjoyable stay at Sheridan Lake in the Black Hills, A very quiet and well run place, looked after very well by the campground hosts and personnel. it was a busy Labor Day weekend and the pit toilets naturally showed their heavy use. It is a beautiful lake with all the campground spaces having some view of it. The lake is centrally located to all the tourism attractions in the Black Hills area, this time we toured the Crazy Horse memorial which is coming along well and was a good stop, also drove up to Deadwood and spent time at the Sudan mine physics project as well as the trip up thru the gorgeous Sturgis canyon, not to be missed!

Didn't realize that ALL waste needed to be stored and taken out of the campsite including greywater. No dump location. This posed some challenges that we had not planned for. Hence this campsite was 1 small step from roughing it in the back-country....paying for a spot to squat and a latrine. Best to bring an RV with some storage capacity. Not thrilled with the rules of this camp site. Next time will be booking one of the more modernized campgrounds in the area.

Loved our camping trip to Sheridan Lake! The scenery was breathtaking and the campground was nice and quiet after 10pm. It is a dry campground, so we had the opportunity to learn about our generator. Can't wait to return to Sheridan Lake!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Sheridan Lake, but RV campers should be aware that while water is available in the campground, NO water spigot fittings are threaded to allow for hose hookup to fill RV water tanks prior to setup. So, after driving the narrow road to the campground, we had to turn around and drive back to Three Forks Campground to buy water (only $5 to fill-up a 50 gal tank). Also, no dump station is available at Sheridan so back to Three Forks or your next stop to dump - not a big deal, just something to be aware of.
