Perfect distance from Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse and other fun attractions. Camp host and staff were kind and informative.

A very nice campground near the lake. Most sites have the picnic table and fire ring on the camp side of the site. The sites are spread out so you're no on top of each other. The vault toilets are clean and well kept.

I don't think there is a bad site in all of the Woods Loop, but we absolutely LOVED #65 and 66 during our stay. Lakefront and **beautiful views**!!! The campground bathrooms and water sources are in numbers and locations convenient to all sites. 15-20 minute drive to Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, and don't miss the public fishing side of Horsethief Lake Campground for a relaxing couple of hours. There are NO showers in this campground at all, but CINDY at the check-in station was SO very helpful in referring us to Three Forks Campground nearby, where for $5 they will let you shower even though you didn't stay there. Same solution for the lack of a dump station -- $10 to dump at 3Forks on your way out of town.

Amazing campground. Super quiet, away from major highways. This campsite was pretty much right on the lake. We spent 3 days fishing Sheridan Lake and the fishing was amazing. Caught pike, crappie, rainbow, and HUGE bluegills. There was plenty of space to set up 2-3 tents, lots of parking area. The staff were all super nice. The young lady at the entrance booth gave us a map and helped with directions. You can also purchase fire wood right at the entrance to the campground. There are tons of offroading/hiking trails within half hour of this campground and you’re also not far from bigger cities if you need to do shopping etc. so the location is awesome. We hope to be back!

This is a rustic campground
No water, sewer or electric
It’s right in the middle of all the tourist attractions makes it easy to see Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and more.
Groceries are not far in Hill City

This was an excellent spot in the campground. There are not many flat spots for large tents, though. We were able to pitch a 3-person tent a little farther down the hill with a mostly flat spot with a great view of the valley. It was beautiful. Also, the bathrooms were very clean compared to other campgrounds I've camped at. Overall, excellent!

The staff was very helpful dealing with the people that decided to stay after the check-out time. My wife and I had to wait 20 minutes for these old rude people to get their act together and leave. Check out time is 1PM - they left at 2:20 PM. Other then that issue - we had a wonderful time.
