We had a reservation (Site 24) but ran into our first (and hopefully last) WHERE DID THAT COME FROM???? tornado/ hail as we arrived from the south. Called the campground to check on weather. CONNIE is THE most amazing camp host. She not only waited to be certain we arrived safely (….pretty steep incline but our 36’ gas powered Tiffin WITH a TOAD, made it just fine) and escorted us to our riverside site, is our chocolate lab’s new BFF, and was SUCH a friendly face to arrive and see at checkin. I cannot imagine how frazzled we looked after that storm. It was frightening and I don’t scare easily.
Sadly, we only spent one night enroute to Michigan but we would ABSOLUTELY return. The river on our loop was high and saw zero alligators! 😅

Lock A is always great. Staff are friendly, sites are clean. Will go back again soon. If I have one complaint it is that the bridge is washed out on the connected walking trail. Not the campsite issue, just a disappointment for me.

This location is convenient so we have stayed many times but things still need to be addressed. One is the reservation policy and how certain people are always given the best spots along the river so others have no chance of reserving them. Some of us cannot afford to book a site an extra 14 days just to try to get dates we want and know sites are held for certain people. The other is cleaning of the restrooms. While I do not know how to fix it, the floors are always wet with water and you have to step in it and sometimes get your clothes wet just trying to use the restroom. I have seen where people will put toilet paper down on the floor to dry it some but all that does is ball up into nasty globs of wet toilet paper that no one picks up. There was a lady that tried to clean well but I was told this time that she was no longer there. The worst part of our latest trip was the electricity hookup at the site. Part of this was due to us thinking it was our ac unit because it is a little older so we thought it could be going out but the lights were also going brighter and duller and flickering. There was a storm which knocked a tree down and took out the power which couldn't be helped but when it came back on we still had problems. The plug in was sort of sparking and we told the lady and she said she would let someone know but no one came. We wound up running our line to the campsite next to us to get power and found we had no more issues with our lights or air conditioning. Then one day in the early morning we heard two loud bangs and the power went out again. This time a truck came into the park and worked on a pole and the electricity came back on and a guy came by but didn't fix our hookup so it was still that way when we left. We had to use the electric from the site next door to us until we left. This is dangerous and could have caused a fire but no one cared. Looking for other places to stay now.

I got a campsite spontaneously. I was only able to stay one night but had a mechanical issue with my camper. I went to the front gate and was able to obtain another night at a different site. The hostess was very helpful. I love this campground and the views of the river are fantastic. I got to see the river boat go by along with barges and tug boats.

Lock A has wonderful and very nice employees. We had some bad weather during our stay. She made sure we was aware of the storms and checked on us. She even set up a art's and craft table for the kids to make mothers day cards. Above and beyond for visitors.

Great little park, the camp host was very helpful. The park was pretty quiet and would have been a fun place to fish if we had brought our rods.
