What Guests Are Saying
Chilhowee Campground is praised for its beautiful natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for repeat visitors. The campground features clean bathrooms, spacious sites, and a lovely lake for swimming, along with access to hiking trails, including the popular Benton Falls. While the access road is narrow and winding, and some areas may appear dated, the overall experience is highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful camping getaway.

Benton Falls was a hike well worth taking from campground. Campground was quiet during week, but noisy on weekends.
We had to leave early and had difficulty (3days) getting early departure approval. Then, we could not request refund nor use senior pass at 2 other campgrounds until end of original departure date. We did not get refunded the difference in rates of paying full price to seniors pass discount subsequently as we were told we would be able to do by representative of rec.com.
The campground was ok, but reservation change and management difficult. We did finally get refund for days not used at this campground, but not difference in other two. Beware!
Also, dump site was very difficult to access so we left without dumping tanks.

Some of the facilities need repair. We camped in Loop A but the showers in the bathhouse do not work. Went to the bathhouse in Loop B but they were hard to access the water and it was ice cold. Electrical plug-ins in the box didnβt all work at site A-02. 30 amp did but 110 plug ins did not. Site A-02 is backwards for a camper. No room in front of camper for awning (and it rained first 3 days). The table and fire ring were up on a walled space BEHIND the RV! Not very convenient. Pictures showed firewood at every site but none available. Had to drive 20 miles and pay $6 for six small pieces!! Campground host was very kind and helpful! May come back to park when facilities are updated but will not rent this site again!

Camp site was great, Bathrooms we clean, Trails were in great shape. The only thing I was disappointed in was the he beach area. It needed some TLC.

Loved the outdoors. Trails and lake access was awesome! One of the best dog friendly parks we've visited. The biggest turn off was the bathrooms which were nasty and terribly neglected. Toilets were clean, but floors were not mopped, bugs and spiders everywhere, and paint peeling off the walls.

Great camping spot. Love hiking around the lake. Camped here a couple of weeks ago. we dont want to leave. Camp host are friendly like family. Always look forward to seeing Glenda making her rounds on her golf cart. Miss seeing Clinton. They have always been so helpful.

This was our first trip without electric / water hook ups. Ran the generator a few hours each day to charge the batteries with no issues. Very nice campground with clean facilities. The host greeted us when we arrived and was very friendly. Definitely will be back.

We really enjoyed the Benton Falls hike nearby as well as the Ocoee White Water Rafting just down the road.
All of the Overlooks are breath taking.
Additionally the campsite was shady, with plenty of trash cans.
