What Guests Are Saying
Chilhowee Campground is praised for its beautiful natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for repeat visitors. The campground features clean bathrooms, spacious sites, and a lovely lake for swimming, along with access to hiking trails, including the popular Benton Falls. While the access road is narrow and winding, and some areas may appear dated, the overall experience is highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful camping getaway.

We stayed Sun-Sat the very last week they were open for the season. The views getting there are spectacular. The park hosts were very friendly. The bathrooms were clean. The roads are narrow and I imagine would be difficult to navigate for larger rigs but I would go back and stay there without hesitation in the future. Pay attention to the instructions on the website regarding how to get there. The way google maps takes you is a dirt road with a sharp switchback.

Chilhowee National Park was amazing and beautiful. We was there in early November and it was a bit chilly camping but nothing a good campfire didn't fix.

I wish this area would open year around. There is a lot of good camping weather after November 1st. Lots of money to be made. There are a lot of people camp at Parksville campground after Chilhowee closes.

Nice campground with hiking trails in the area. Many sites with good spacing between neighboring sites. Road leading to campground and campground roads not for large RVs. Bathrooms need to be refurbished.

The host are very friendly and helpful. The beach is very nice for the kids to play on and swim. They also have nice nature trails to walk. Camp sites are a good size for most campers.

Very nice campground/park. We loved it, but. The first time we stayed, it was very very loud, music blasting, people shouting, coming from multiple areas, I mean loud until 1AM.
Second time, much much better. I don't believe the campground is patrolled at night by Rangers or the campground manager, so, you are on your own.

This campground could be amazing. It has so much potential and is so lovely. The trails are wonderful, the lake area is wonderful, and the views on the way up are just stunning. I feel like the campground neglected as far as upkeep. The bathrooms were disgusting. I realize I'm camping and do not expect perfection, but the bathrooms could be cleaned a little better. This was our first trip to this particular campground and it wasn't the greatest experience. After our first night, we woke up to no water and the bathrooms being locked. This went on for a few days and was very frustrating. We had to drive down to the vault to use the bathroom or to another part of the campground where the water wasn't turned off when it wasn't turned off throughout the entire campground. We had luckily had a 5 gal container filled with water which helped us the first day or so. We needed water to do dishes the other days and because our water was still turned off in our loop we had to travel to another loop to get water for our dishes. I would love to come back for a 2nd try but it would be nice if the campground could get some much needed TLC beforehand.

Very poorly marked from the highway and a long way from main road to campgrounds. Mostly clean and accessible showers. Paved RV parking spot. Scenic overviews are nice. Very dark at night. We had to go hunting for one of our campers because he couldn't find his way back to the campground after it got dar,l
