Campsite is decent. There’s a big fallen tree that makes accessing the water a little tricky and it has created slick mud and putrid water. Also the hiking trail to Abrams Falls needs better signage. This spot gets very sunny mid day, so make sure you bring your canopy. We had a good time and we will be back, just picking a different spot next time.

If you like camping next to Subaru’s and CRVs have at it. Neighbors are legit in your face. People walking through your camp to get to the creek and folks parking in other peoples canp spots and walking off all because other people (who werent going to camp) hanging out all day in their spot. Domino effect. Personally prefer more remote with less people.

It was a nice quiet campground. As soon as we pulled in to get down to the campground by the creek, there was a sign saying 4 Wheel Dr. required. I wish they would’ve told us that when we made the reservation because we were on a motorcycle. It was a bit hairy going down and I wondered if we could get up the next day but we made it OK. it had stormed the night before and the water was up so we couldn’t wade in the creek like we usually do but it was a very nice sounds to sleep too.

This campsite is quite far removed from the rest of the campgrounds and activities in the Smoky Mountains. Perfect if you are looking for something quiet and isolated. Being next to the creek was lovely and there are some good trails to hike right from the campground. It is worth noting that we did not see a ranger once the entire time we were there. We stopped by the ranger office when we first arrived to check in and ask a question. But there was no one around except other campers the entire 4 days we were there. Also, when you drive down into the campsite, there is a sign that says "4-wheel drive or chains only beyond this point." This was not something I recall seeing noted when I booked the reservation. It was a very steep one-way road down into the campground. Thankfully, our van did ok. It would be a scary drive if there were downpour or snow, though.

Have camped at this site for many years and will recommend and return! The site was clean; the bathrooms were clean. The only complaint this year was the arrival of three men on motorcycles after quiet hours who proceeded to set up their camp in a non-designated spot and stay up past 2 am talking loudly. The following day when the ranger came to check the bathrooms and remove the trash he did not say a word to these men even though he passed by their "campsite" several times. I was camping with my kids, and every site seemed to be families with kids as well. This sort of unauthorized camping should be addressed to keep sites safe and enjoyable.

Love how secluded it was and we enjoy the quiet just listening to the creek in the background.

I LOVE this little campground! It's off the beaten path yet accessible to significant trailheads. The riverside setting is serene and gorgeous. The facilities show their age and use but everything is clean and in good condition. I hesitate to say too much since Abrams Creek is one of the GSMNP's best kept secrets...shhh!

It was quiet and peaceful, we got to see a river otter during our stay. Loved being able to fish and go hiking.
