What Guests Are Saying

Blue Heron Campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers clean facilities, making it a favorite for many visitors. The proximity to hiking trails, especially the Blue Heron Loop, adds to its appeal. While some campers noted noise from nearby children and the absence of a campground host, the overall atmosphere is friendly and the campground provides a great outdoor experience.

The campground was very quiet, even with kids playing on the playground and riding bicycles, the site was fairly level and looked out through the trees rather than into other campsites. 30 amp power was consistent even though everyone’s air conditioning was running full blast. A great experience.

We were camping in spot/site 25. There is a dead tree that hangs out over the camper. It was very worrisome during the recent rains. If I could make suggestions, it may save future campers an accident if it were cut.
LOVE camping at Blue Heron!!

Stayed 2 nights while motorcycling. Second night thunderstorms and wind. Stayed dry and the water and power was convenient. 2 showers for the men and plenty of restrooms in the center of the campground. Would definitely stay there again. Recommend visiting the overlooks and Mine area. All within a few miles from there. Everyone was quiet and friendly.

Great time camping at this campground. First time we have ever visited Blue Heron and it didn't disappoint! Took the Big South Fork Scenic Railway, went hiking to Yahoo falls and natural bridge, and toured the Blue Heron Mining Camp. Went jogging and ran up on the Blue Heron and Devil's jump scenic overlook and had to take the wife back to see the view! Campground host went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable!

Category About
General

Black bears and other wildlife frequent this campground. Please keep in mind that “food” to a bear includes any item with a scent, regardless of packaging. This may consist of items that you do not consider food, such as canned goods, horse feed, bottles, drinks, soaps, cosmetics, toiletries, trash, ice chests (even when empty), and unwashed items used for preparing or eating meals. All these items must be stored properly.
--Secure coolers, grills, cooking utensils, horse feed, any food not in use, and anything with food odors inside the locked compartment of a vehicle or trailer or a bear proof storage locker if available. Food storage lockers each measure approximately 29" deep x 38" wide x 43" tall.
--Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking.
--Avoid burning garbage in fire rings because it will leave behind grease and food scraps.
--Always discard all garbage in wildlife proof trash cans or dumpsters. Keep a clean campsite.
--Do not hang garbage from lantern poles.

Following these guidelines will keep you from getting your property confiscated from your campsite.
We appreciate your cooperation.
