What Guests Are Saying
Blue Heron Campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers clean facilities, making it a favorite for many visitors. The proximity to hiking trails, especially the Blue Heron Loop, adds to its appeal. While some campers noted noise from nearby children and the absence of a campground host, the overall atmosphere is friendly and the campground provides a great outdoor experience.

Blue Heron is a nice campground, very reasonably priced for the amenities offered. Sites have both electric and water hook-up and are nicely spaced. We were in site 13 which backed up to a small pond--very beautiful and rustic. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained with plenty of hot water in the showers. There was a communal dish sink with HOT running water! This is always a plus for us at a campground. The campground was very convenient to the Blue Heron Mine area, the Split Bow Arch and a number of beautiful overlooks. This park is very similar to the Red River Gorge area in a lot of ways but with way less crowding and congestion.

Our stay at Blue Heron was great! It was a quiet campground and I felt safe. The bathrooms where clean and the showers where good. Just a few minutes from the river so we where able to go fishing. Not a lot of traffic in and out so the kids where able to play on their bikes. We will definitely be camping there again.

A beautiful location, clean facilities, and lots of different sites with various benefits. Be sure to go check out the mining attractions, pack a bag, and hit some trails when you cross the walking bridge!

Having stayed at commercial sites and paid much more I must say that Blue Heron was amazingly better in so many ways. The site and amenities were phenomenal. I will be returning to explore the area more in the near future.
