What Guests Are Saying

Blue Heron Campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers clean facilities, making it a favorite for many visitors. The proximity to hiking trails, especially the Blue Heron Loop, adds to its appeal. While some campers noted noise from nearby children and the absence of a campground host, the overall atmosphere is friendly and the campground provides a great outdoor experience.

This is our 6th year of camping at Blue Heron over the Labor Day weekend. Great campground! Small, peaceful, clean...just a great experience. The campground hosts (Robert & Jennie ??) were excellent. They did meet and greets with the campers and were just really good people. They went out of their way to keep things looking good. We stayed beyond the weekend after most campers had left for home and Robert was out with his leaf blower cleaning up the vacant sites.

We had a great time at this site and will definitely be back. The camp hosts were amazing and walked around and introduced themselves and chatted with us a bit. Very friendly and available. Bathrooms were clean. Quietest campground we have been to in awhile.

We love this campground. Not only is it beautiful but it’s also remote. Never crowded, decent bathhouse, some interesting things to do and see, and great place to just relax and chill. If you don’t like big crowds, this campground is for you.

Outstanding campground well taken care of by NPS employee Jack Perry and others. There are many trails and sight seeing opportunities nearby along with the river for which the park is named.

Category About
General

Black bears and other wildlife frequent this campground. Please keep in mind that “food” to a bear includes any item with a scent, regardless of packaging. This may consist of items that you do not consider food, such as canned goods, horse feed, bottles, drinks, soaps, cosmetics, toiletries, trash, ice chests (even when empty), and unwashed items used for preparing or eating meals. All these items must be stored properly.
--Secure coolers, grills, cooking utensils, horse feed, any food not in use, and anything with food odors inside the locked compartment of a vehicle or trailer or a bear proof storage locker if available. Food storage lockers each measure approximately 29" deep x 38" wide x 43" tall.
--Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking.
--Avoid burning garbage in fire rings because it will leave behind grease and food scraps.
--Always discard all garbage in wildlife proof trash cans or dumpsters. Keep a clean campsite.
--Do not hang garbage from lantern poles.

Following these guidelines will keep you from getting your property confiscated from your campsite.
We appreciate your cooperation.
