What Guests Are Saying
Blue Heron Campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers clean facilities, making it a favorite for many visitors. The proximity to hiking trails, especially the Blue Heron Loop, adds to its appeal. While some campers noted noise from nearby children and the absence of a campground host, the overall atmosphere is friendly and the campground provides a great outdoor experience.

Sites were close but level. Restrooms were clean and the sink for dishes was a great addition since the warning of bears. Never did see and attendant.

Small Cramped Campground with a well worn bath house. Lots of things inthe area, but the campground is lacking is services and staff. Never saw the host if there was one. but then it was October.

The site for our camper was perfect-flat and fire ring and table clean upon arrival. The workers who I interacted with from front desk to maintenance were friendly and helpful. It was the most beautiful registration locale I have ever been too.
We hope to stay there on our return north to explore more.

Campsite was fine, everything worked as expected. Using the dump station for people using sites 1-6 requires going over 2-3 speed humps and going through the campground to turn around to enter the dump station properly. And why is it they constructed the dump station connection so high? Because most rv's rely on gravity to drain the tanks, the higher the tank is in relation to the connection the better! And slope the pavement so the tanks are tipped towards the drain! Other than that one-time experience, we really did have a nice time at Big South Fork NP.

Blue Heron campground is a gem for quick access to the Big South Fork River and all the sights and history surrounding this northern part of the Big South Fork Park.
The campground is clean and well laid out to provide convenience and privacy. The bath house was always clean and stocked. The showers had hot water.
We respected the “don’t move firewood request “ but the availability of local or treated firewood in the region seemed nonexistent. There is plenty of downed firewood, but you have to be capable of gathering the firewood and getting it back to your campsite.
The Host campsite was not occupied and frequent campers said it has not been occupied for a couple years. This site should be returned to the list of reservable sites for this campground.

We had a great time at blue heron. Clean bathrooms and quiet and our dog loved it. Found a copperhead though on our first night so be aware. Great hikes just walking distance away.
