The campground as a whole seems nicely redone. It was closed for almost a decade, so it's nice to see it open again. Our main issue was nothing the campground itself did wrong, but moreso that it seems to cater to the type of camping that we aren't really interested in. We usually try to find dispersed camping in the National Forest system as opposed to the more crowded/commercialized campgrounds in the National Parks. Look Rock Campground definitely falls into the latter category. Sitting along the pretty heavily traveled (at least during Summer holidays) Foothills Parkway doesn't help with the solitude, and the majority of sites are close enough together that it's pretty apparent the design was intended for people to sort of just park their RV or travel trailer and then disappear inside for the duration. Not a lot of "camping" ambience to be had. I suppose this isn't exactly a bad thing, but it's just not for us. That said, if you're looking for a nicely maintained National Park campground with electric, water, and some of the best parking spaces for your summer house on wheels, this might be right up your alley.
Also, fair warning, Site 43 doesn't have a tent pad, nor does it have any sort of reasonable way to utilize your aforementioned RV, or even a small trailer. It's essentially two parking spaces, situated side-by-side. There wasn't enough space to park our little 12 ft offroad trailer and our Grand Cherokee without unhooking and parking next to each other. Just a heads up for the next person.

The campgrounds are very nice and well taken care of. My only complaint is the noise coming from the Foothills Parkway adjacent to the campground. Lots of motorcycle and hot rod noise well into the night. We camped on the upper portion of the loop. Perhaps it wouldn’t be as noisy on the lower section of the loop. Otherwise, it was really nice.

For a newly rehabbed campground, Look Rock is surprising problems with their hookups. Water gushed out from the bottom of the spout, making connection difficult. Our neighbor experienced this as well, to include intermittent power outages. Road noise from motorcycles headed to Tail of the Dragon. Clean WC, pristine dump station.

This was a beautiful campsite. Brand new bathrooms and facilities . Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Also a lot of shaded areas . You are right on the foothills so there’s a view going to the site as well. 10-15 minutes to the smoky mountains entrance. Well worth it! Highly recommend.

Good to see it open again. Facilities were good. Noisy family with crying infant was right by us.

Lovely campground! Lots of shade and tree cover, close to many Great Smoky Mountain NP sites on that side of the park. Nearby Look Rock Tower has a magnificent overlook. Site 68 was unfortunately not as level as I’d like, but we made it work.

Tell people they cannot follow gps if towing anything as it routes you in on hairpin turn road.
Should state on your site and the reservation notice to use the Parkway and where to enter.
Site 41 photodoes not show the dumpster is less than 6 feet from your trailer. Great placement if you are truly concerned about limiting potential bear interaction.
Camp Hosts were friendly and assertive.

We attempted to find the campground but apparantly it's not visible from the road. We drove 20 miles to find it without locating. Tried calling all the numbers at Recreation.Gov. All I got was a run around with all the recordings. I was stuck paying the 30.00 fee and did'nt find or use the campsite. I never received a refund of my money either. Very disappointed.
