We used the access road to hike to Look Rock tower, then found the trail to hike back to the picnic area/campground. It's a paved trail! Signage would be helpful so more people can find this trail. The trail does not appear on the Avenza Map even though there is signage for it from the access road near the tower. There are very steep sections.
This is a good campground for rest and relaxation. It is not near "things to do" other than the tower. You will need to get in a car and drive several miles to reach trail heads and water.

Improve water pressure in bathroom toilets. Three flushes with solid waste. Also need signage on the parkway to point down to campground.

Great campground overall. Nicely located in a much less crowded area compared to other areas of the park. We had site A51, which was nice. However, the walk to the bathroom was a bit longer than I'm used to, the area around the campfire ring is on a slope and the tent pad square was not smoothed out so we were on a large hump. Other than that the campground was very nice to stay at.

If you have a trailer or RV, you should avoid the upper part of the campground which is more set up for tents. What look like pull thru’s are more like pull offs for a vehicle carrying tent equipment.
Very nice bathrooms with running water but no showers. The bathroom in the upper camping area had insufficient flush water duration and should be adjusted.
This is a much nicer and quieter camping spot than Cades Cove and right off the Foothills Parkway for easy access. It’s also relatively close to Townsend and in a very good location for camping except for obnoxiously loud motorcycles occasionally.

All new facilities and very nice campground. Deborah the park ranger was incredibly kind and helpful. There is some road noise and you are on the edge of the park so driving takes some extra time, but still a great spot to consider. There's also a stunning watchtower nearby that is worth the visit when you stay there.

Another great stay. It's funny and silly to read some reviews that people post. They give this place a 3 star review because there were roots, too much water draining, near a house, road noise and more. These are the type of people that would complain they had to pay taxes on a million dollar prize or that they had to go pick it up. It's nature people! If you are making such trivial complaints you should just stay home.
Yes, there is road noise as it's next to a road. Yes, there is a house next to spots 23-25. Yes, trees have roots that are above ground. Yes, the fire pit is a few feet away from the picnic table. Yes, there are bugs. OH MY!
Read the other reviews before you rent a campsite here. I guess almost everything being new means nothing. WOW!

Great spot. Zero cell service unless you get on the Foothills parkway. Look rock tower has some amazing views. A few of the spots have homes directly behind them. Check a satellite map and avoid those.

Campsites were nice and clean and had a really good layout. Staff was helpful with multiple items. If you enjoy a campground that is more away from things and not in a "touristy" spot I highly recommend as it was nice and peaceful. Had a wonderful time.
