Glad this campground is open. Wish everyone respected the rules. Had a couple of families close by that let their teenagers make noise why past the quiet time. They also left their picnic table covered with food and cooking utensils overnight

Space 25 is next to a new house that was recently built. The friendly neighbor came to the campsite to greet us. The campsite has perfect access to a water spigot across the road and to the restroom walkway. I would camp in that site again.

Completely repaved. Very quiet at night, but a lot of loud vehicle road noise during daylight hours. Definitely will stay again.

I'm glad this campground re-opened after all these years. The new facilities are great and it's just a short walk to the Look Rock tower for those sunrises and sunsets.
Site 14 has roadside pull-out parking and a short walk downhill to the tent platform and picnic table.

It's a bit of a ways to Look Rock from the campground, but I didn't mind the hike-it was worth that view! Restrooms were pristine, campground hosts exuberant, and the site was in brand new condition.

Would love if the parks service would place signs in the bathrooms directing people to the dish washing station. This whole campground is a little too close to the road and houses butt right up to a few campsites. There is also a close by gun range you hear off and on throughout the day.

The good:
After being closed for nine years this campground has just been reopened on October 15 after a $4.5+ million upgrade. Practically everything is new including the roads, parking areas, utilities including electrical & water, picnic benches, tent gravel pads & even the bathrooms have been redone. This was & is our favorite campground in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as it is not as crowded normally & is less noisy than the others.
Lighted sink area between restrooms
Nice scenic overlooks on the Foothills Parkway
Multiple water outlets & trash bins in the campground
We have Verizon & depending where you are in the campground we got 1 bar to 4 bar LTE service. At Look Rock the weather station tower which has wonderful views & is a short walk from the campground we got full 5 bar service. Most any provider should be full service from that location. I am pretty confident that for this campground you can wait to get there to see what spot you want & then make a reservation on the Recreation.gov app. We did & had no issue although in the lower spots of 37-70 it may take a while.
Out of all the camping spots there are 10 that have electrical and water hook ups for you RV and camper people.
The bad:
As this is next to the Foothills Parkway there are at times some vehicle noise especially loud racing motorcycles.
Spots 23-26 are right next to a house that somebody built right next to the campground. Ruins the camping feeling!
There are no showers.
The campground is a loop so there was a good amount of vehicles coming through with people looking around. That should lessen over time as it was on all the local news outlets about the reopening so most were locals looking at the redone campground.
This campground is a little bit away from tourist sites of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Seveirville. To us that is great but to others maybe not. You are near the small community Townsend though which bills itself as "The Peaceful Side Of The Smokies".
