Spacious and quiet campground. Javelinas come out to eat, and horses from Mexico as well. Beautiful sunsets.

Very quiet and peaceful campground, just a stone’s throw from the Rio Grande. Plenty of space between campsites. Folks were very observant about shutting off generators at quiet hour. Appreciated the proximity to the convenience store and showers. Unexpected pluses included a roaming pack of javelinas and “illegally immigrated” horses, donkeys, and cows :-). And tons of birds.

It is a maddening game of "were you able to make a reservation?" but the effort is worth it. Do not let the limited generator hours discourage you. The people and the ambiance at the campsite are well worth the effort.

Enjoyed the spacious RV spots (for 26 ft.) and ability to use our generator for certain hours. Having a dump and water station that was not crowded was beneficial. The camping rangers were all nice and helpful. The access to great trails nearby was enjoyable too, such as the nature trail and canyon trail. In addition, we appreciated access to a store and visitor center for WIFI reception. Not having cell reception was a little challenging.

This park is massive! We stayed 5 nights and wanted another 5 to explore more! We stayed in the Rio Grande Village where there was lots of roaming wild life (donkeys, javelinas, horses, cows) and we were right on the river. They have lots of trails for hiking, lots of off roading, a natural hot springs (totally worth the road and hike in) and the stars at night were ACTUALLY big and bright! I’ve never seen landscape like this in Texas before and highly recommend exploring Santa Elena’s Canyon, it was magnificent. We will definitely be back.

I was in site 68. End of the row, no trees. The site was level so I didn't have to do any special leveling of my 32 foot motorhome.
This pull-through site had plenty of parking space to accomodate my RV the Jeep I tow. No wood fires allowed, though you could use propane and charcoal for cooking at your campsite.
Campground hosts were very welcoming, provided great information and suggestions on things to do based on my length of stay and available time. All the campsites were well maintained and promptly cleaned by the volunteer camphosts when guests departed. The sites are well spaced out. Many with trees providing shade. If you have a big / tall rig, be sure to check to make sure your rig will not be damaged by tree limbs because of choosing a shaded site.
Bathrooms were clean, and well maintained, though could use some updating. No showers - there are coin operated showers at the RGV Store. NOTE when I took a shower there I could not get hot water! I opted to just use my RV shower and had to fill my fresh water tank and dump my grey tank sooner than planned. A minor convenience considering...
Chisos Mountain area is one of the shining stars of this park - an oasis in the middle of the desert, with an ecosystem all its own. The Boquillas and Santa Elena canyon hikes were two other highlights of my visit.

Super friendly and helpful hosts. We stayed there for two nights and on 2nd night when a better site became available, the hosts offered to us to move to that site. Truly appreciate it. The area and the bathrooms were very clean. The sink for washing the dishes was also available and clean.
The store and shower was very handy and affordable. Interesting enough, the diesel fuel was cheaper than both nearest town outside of the park.

Rio Grand Village is great. Camp hosts run a tight ship which is good. Rules enforced make the experience good for everyone and keep the campground in good repair and nature as it should be. Great hikes for those wanting a strenuous but fabulous experience are Blue Creek, South Rim, and Marufo Vega. Scenic challenges well worth the effort.
