We camped at site 49 in January which is in the no generator section. The site was great with a picnic table, bear locker and grill. We had no problem leveling our trailer. The camp hosts were excellent, greeting all the campers every day and letting everyone know about animal sightings.
The Rio Grande Village store is within walking distance and they also have gas, propane, laundry facilities and showers ($2 for 5 min).
Great location to explore this area of Big Bend.

Had an excellent time solo camping here in January, felt very safe and got to see tons of wildlife. I was grateful for not having to go very far from my camp during this trip, as there is a lovely nature trail within the walking trail of the village. This location is also close to the hot springs, I heard it’s a 3mi hike but also only a few minutes drive if you’re like me. Very friendly staff throughout the park.

The camp custodians were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the gentleman at the Visitor Center gave us great information to plan our short stay in the area. Our campsite was clean, clearly marked, and easy to book and find. I'm always impressed with the volunteers and employees at Big Bend and their commitment to ensuring all visitors have an incredible experience.

This site was not as private as I had hoped and not really any shade. The picnic table is not covered. Our door didn't open to see the neighbors so that was a plus. The neighbors were very rude though and walked through our campsite. Once was right by the door in front of our camper. The bathroom is next to this site across the street and very busy. That thing is used from sun down to sun up it seemed. This site is generator friendly if you need it. Surprisingly didn't hear traffic all night this trip. Overall, we keep coming to Rio Grande Village. It is generator friendly at some sites, close to a favorite trail, feels safe and we usually see wildlife.

Nice campground, nice campsite. But on the winter evening/night/morning we stayed here it was wind whistling through, across the Rio from Mexico I believe, kicking up a ton of dust. Didn't even avail ourselves of the showers due to too much dust storm.
Bring your solid tent stakes and hammer them in good. I'm glad we did. Saw numerous tents flattened.
A Mexican cow stopped by the tent by at night. Sneaky coyote checking out the campground for scraps in the AM. Have fun!

First time camping and I thought it was a very nice campsite! Drinking water easily available, along with bathrooms that were a very short walk, and food lockers provided. No wifi access but it is not too long of a walk or a very short drive to the Rio Grande Store that had free wifi (and showers). It is a short walk to the Rio Grande Nature Walk, and I definitely recommend to go, especially on a windy day, it was beautiful.

The Rio Grande campground bathrooms were clean. The hosts were friendly and came to warn us about coyotes in the area. We went during the dark sky and were not disappointed with all the stars we could see. The hikes were fun and led to great views. We ate at the restaurant twice. Good food, although a little expensive. The stores had anything we ran out of. The rangers were very informative. A great experience and looking forward to returning someday.
