Site #3 was fantastic. It’s in the RV section, but many of the surrounding sites had tents as well. Large RVs don’t really fit here—most of the vehicles were smaller RVs or camping vans. I don’t think big RVs could even make it into Chisos Basin because of the narrow, winding road. I was initially worried our 8-person tent wouldn’t fit, but it worked perfectly. The site is slightly elevated, offering incredible views, and the walk to the bathroom is short and easy, just down the road past Site 4. A water spigot is located near the bathrooms, and there’s also a designated area there to wash dishes, which was very convenient. We used the charcoal grill provided at the site, since wood and ground fires are prohibited in the park. However, we did notice some people having ground fires at night, so ranger drive-throughs might help with enforcement. Some nearby sites would have been tight for a tent our size, but Site #3 was ideal.

Nice campground with great access to trails. Many of the sites are not very level, but 58 was good and on a private loop with great views. We did not use the table which was up some steep steps but set up chairs next to our RV.

Big Bend NP has been my go to place since the 70’s. Hiking, driving RossMaxwell Rd, 4WD River Road, Hot Springs, Boquillas, Ernst Tinaja, Santa Elena and just relaxing are just what is needed. I love camping in the Basin as well as Rio Grande Village. Make sure you plan to be in BBNP for several days, take your time to enjoy the park from end to end.

Beautiful campground nestled in Big Bend NP. Very clean and park hosts were kind and helpful. There is a trailhead to The Window Trail at the campground. It's the best place to start the trail which is absolutely beautiful. I love the reservation system. I signed up to receive notifications when campsites opened up and it worked very well. Such a great process.

Beautiful campground area, very well maintained. Be cautious about moving rocks (moving a rock around 1 foot to anchor supplies got us a slap on the hand) - and even if you have a portable “contained” pellet/non-wood fire pit, it will not be permitted (we were misinformed that this was not considered a ground fire and got in trouble for that too). These folks were quite feisty and grumpy about rules we didn’t even know we were breaking. I’m sure they get tired of telling people not to do stuff but it wasn’t a warm fuzzy feeling to be treated the way we were when we intended to be compliant in the first place. It was my niece and nephews first time to a national park (they are state park pros!) and were so put off by it they told me they weren’t sure they ever wanted to go to another national park (eek!) otherwise, STUNNING grounds, quiet and serene, and easy access to trails.
