Staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed hiking the Lone Mountain trail which is a fairly new trail. Santa Elena, Boquillas Canyon and the Lost Mine Trail gave wonderful scenic views and photographic opportunities. I also enjoyed the plants and birds.

Very convenient location for the campsite, centrally located and close to bathroom/water spigot. Shade structure is nice to have during the day, bear box is large and has space for many things. Similar to other campsites, it is rather small. No natural barrier between this site and others, many campsites in the Chisos are the same due to relatively sparse vegetation. Can't be helped, really, as that is the area's ecology, however, the lack of natural barriers led to many people walking through our campsite on the way to the bathroom/water. Additionally, due to small size of each campsite, you are in close proximity to others and can easily hear conversation, music, and even snoring at night. Would recommend ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Despite this, was a great spot and I'd highly recommend it.

Overall, the campground was great! Due to a broken pump, there was no running water. Fortunately, we were notified of this well in advance by email so we were prepared. Unfortunately, although we were told that the campsite was not level, we were not given much more detail. Thus, we had major issues getting our hard-sided popup into the site. Having had a bit more information as to just how unlevel the site was would have been helpful. Hopefully, this will be addressed in the renovations that will be taking place.

Beautiful campground, there were some hikes right from our campsite. Only complaint is that it was cold in the mornings with the mountains hiding the sun. But worth the sacrifice for the view.
