I had a such a wonderful experience there. My site was clean with an amazing view, the bathrooms were clean, and the trails were gorgeous.
I can’t wait to go back!

The Chisos Basin campground is maybe the best I've ever stayed in. Soooo beautiful. Only downside is no showers but oh well, its worth it! I stayed in campsite 49 and it was small , definitely only fits one or maybe two small tents. But the views are some of the best. The Window Trail at sunset is a must do, but one tip we got from the rangers was to back track up 0.25 miles to where the trail splits and go 0.25 miles up the other trail (meadows something i think) to the bluffs above the Window. The view of sunset was even more beautiful, and we had the place to ourselves. We even saw Mountain goats!! It was by far the highlight of our trip.

Big Bend is a big beautiful park. Your stay should include traveling thru the entire park. Hiking, driving enjoying the river, stars and Mexico

While the campground is basic it’s worth it for the beauty of the park and easy access to the trails. Definitely heed the length limits on the spots, and that many of the RV spots are not level. We would definitely stay again though.

Site #3 was fantastic. It’s in the RV section, but many of the surrounding sites had tents as well. Large RVs don’t really fit here—most of the vehicles were smaller RVs or camping vans. I don’t think big RVs could even make it into Chisos Basin because of the narrow, winding road. I was initially worried our 8-person tent wouldn’t fit, but it worked perfectly. The site is slightly elevated, offering incredible views, and the walk to the bathroom is short and easy, just down the road past Site 4. A water spigot is located near the bathrooms, and there’s also a designated area there to wash dishes, which was very convenient. We used the charcoal grill provided at the site, since wood and ground fires are prohibited in the park. However, we did notice some people having ground fires at night, so ranger drive-throughs might help with enforcement. Some nearby sites would have been tight for a tent our size, but Site #3 was ideal.

Nice campground with great access to trails. Many of the sites are not very level, but 58 was good and on a private loop with great views. We did not use the table which was up some steep steps but set up chairs next to our RV.
