We always stay at site 29. Last year we stayed there & we had a shower tent. Washed our dishes at the site. We always bring plenty of water with us. This time they had a paper on the table. Which said no shower tents, no water on the ground. No washing dishes. Because it will draw the animals in the camp area. I talked to the park host. If it would have be on the alerts that I always watch before I travel anywhere. I wouldn’t have wasted my time bringing 4 five gallons of water. And the place to wash dishes at the restrooms was nasty. Please put what people needs to know on the alerts. Thanks

One of the best campsites! Mostly private and a decent size for 2 tents. Absolutely ZERO shade so bring a canopy! Just around the corner from the window trailhead and restrooms. We enjoyed a very informative morning coffee group talk with the ranger. Got a free Big Bend mug ;) Everyone throughout the park, both staff & guests, were so welcoming and friendly. Clean and very well conserved park. Note, if you’re crossing to boquillos the stores won’t give you small bills so kept that to yourself and just buy some gum. Lastly, we weren’t sure what to expect to pay for the FULL experience bc not a lot of info is out there so here ya go… it was me and my bf and we spent $200+. Between the boat to cross, the horse to town, the tour guide (we didn’t ask for lol), 2 entrees/2 cocktails, 2 waters, 2 souvenirs, immigration fees… completely worth it and Loved to support their economy, just plan accordingly bc we didn’t lol. Anywho, enjoy!

Amazing campground. One of the most impressive places I have ever been fortunate enough to camp.

Good campground with picturesque views. It's at elevation so it doesn't get as hot as other parts of the park. Good access to Window Frame trail and Lost Mine trails.

Site 59 is on an extreme slant impossible to level. The location of the campground is beautiful but too many sites are crowded together. Not all sites have shade over the picnic tables and site 58 requires climbing up steps to get to the table. Rio Grande campground is much better set up although the views are not spectacular like they are at Chidos.

For two of my four days at the campground, the dishwashing sink was clogged and overflowing. Not only was it unusable, it smelled awful and the smell permeated through the whole campground. Once the sink was unclogged my experience was quite good. I do wish there were garbage receptacles in more places than just the entrance.
