Got to the campsite around 9pm so we couldn't see anything but woke up to the most amazing view! Friendly people and so much wildlife 10/10 recommend

Besides getting double booked on the second site we booked and having to give it up to the other guy who got their first, this campsite was spectacular & clean! They did give us a different spot that was nice & the camp host was kind, but ngl it left a bad taste not getting the one we wanted after planning all those weeks in advance.

The best campground in Big Bend! It is beautifully surrounded by the Chisos Mountains with stunning views in all directions. Each site has a picnic table, charcoal grill and a very large bear-proof food storage locker. The locker was AWESOME, as I stored two coolers and all my cooking gear while out hiking each day with no worries. The individual campsite area is much larger than most. The volunteer Camp Hosts were great and the clean and well maintained bathrooms are close to all sites. Don't miss "The Window" hiking trail beginning between campsites 49-51...it was a highlight of my trip! Thanks, Drew

Campground has beautiful views and clean bathrooms with running water. Shaded picnic tables much appreciated.
No cell service.
Note: individual sites are inconsistent in level of openness/privacy. Mine happened to be completely open with no division between it and other sites or the road, natural or artificial. It made it feel like camping on display.

Loved the location of our campsite, 59. A little off to the side and not right on the road. Such a peaceful environment with a view of the mountain sides. Everyone respected each other and were quiet during quiet hours. It was not a party crowd, at least when we went. Bathrooms were kept clean. My only suggestion is to emphasize the maximum number of tents allowed. Even though the maximum number of people is 8, they would need to be crammed in about 2 tents. Also emphasize the very very limited space for parking.

Absolutely beautiful campsite! The only thing to note is that it is directly across from the restrooms, so keep this in mind if the noise/activity would bother you.

The camp stewards at Chisos Basin were incredibly helpful and informative. The camp site was well-maintained, and I appreciated how much communication and effort went into making sure all the visitors left minimal impact on the local wildlife and environment. It's a truly special place and I look forward to returning.

We wanted a place where we could view the stars at night, and have our car legally... it was perfect for that... we came last min and were able to book the last campsite (a cancellation) the same day., whew! .. we were lucky. The campsite was very convenient and well run... well supervised. We were met by a volunteer who gave us very helpful information... although with all the information we were hoping but we still didn't have encounters with rattle snakes, skunks or bears... disappointing was ... ha ha .. not really! Really, it was GREAT!
